Silva vs Big Nog at the OWGP!!!
The Axemurder Wanderlai Silva will face the Submission Magician Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at the Open Weight GP. This is incredible.

Wanderlei by decision.
I actually can't see Big Nog losing to anyone except Fedor. However, Wanderlei via Axe Murder.
Edit: Where are you getting this information? According to http://www.prideofficial.com/ they're both in it, but they aren't vs. each other yet...

I'm kind of skeptical too. Yeah I see they are next to eachother but there isn't a "vs." between their names. I wouldn't be surprised but I wouldn't say it's official yet. On a side note I'm glad Fujita is fighting again. Hope to see a Fujita vs. Hunt matchup.

Personally, and I don't mean to offend anybody, but I would love to see Big Nog hand Wandy is ass on a platter. He's right up there on ol' SmashingMachines top 5 list of least favorite fighters. Maybe I should rephrase a bit...I like to watch him fight but I don't like him.

Wanderlei is a bad matchup for Nog really. I mean Nog isn't the greatest wrestler and Wanderlei has awesome sub defense.

Why? What can Silva do, which Fedor didnīt try? Fedor was pounding Nog into the ground, and Nogīs chin took it all. Do you think a lighter Silva can knock Nog out? I donīt think so.

What?? Are you serious? Nogīs ground game is the best in the world. Silvaīs ground game has serious flaws, just look at the fights with Arona. You canīt be serious about Nog not being a great wrestler. Thatīs like saying Micheal Jordan canīt slam.

Nog is the greatest ground fighter possibly ever in MMA. im a Wandy fan but ihave serious doubts about him winning in any way other than a decision, with a better chance of Nog subin him.
Nog also has one of the best chins in MMA.
This fight wont happen in the first round IMO anyways.......
cant blame you for being excited though, it would be great.

Totally agree with you dude. I think Big Nog will submit Silva or win by UD. I have NEVER seen Big Nog knocked out. He and HUNT has been knocked DOWN but NEVER knocked OUT(unless I missed a fight). This will be a great fight if it does happen. Also I want to see Hunt vs Fedor in the future and I would like to see Jerome Le Banner come to PRIDE.

Seikan's 100% right. Nog's bad to the bone on the ground...and Wandy's not bad but not really that good either on the dirt. Nog can stand too, if he has too and he has a cast-iron jaw too.

Me too. I don't think Hunt's got a prayer if it goes to the ground, but if he can keep it standing he does. Fujita's already showed that Fedor can be rocked! Who's to say that if a guy who throws bombs, like Mark Hunt, couldn't finish the job?

I would love to see Minotauro stand with Wanderlei and own him standing then take him to the ground and school him there. I hope this fight happens but I am not going to get my hopes up.

What do you mean? Fedor beat Nog both times. Why would Wanderlei have to do something Fedor didn't? I didn't say he'd knock Nog out, I said he's a bad match up.
Nog's BJJ for MMA is the best in the world, his subs are the best, his ground game is not 100% better than everyone's though. There are a lot of better wrestlers than him - and Arona was one of them. I think Nog would have a hard time getting Wanderlei down. You think Nog's wrestling is better than Rampage's wrestling? Sakuraba's wrestling?
Silva's ground game has flaws? Like what? When has Silva been in trouble on the ground? People love to say that because he has a very defensive guard, however, I wouldn't say he has serious flaws in his ground game.

Yes, Fedor beat Nog both times, but did he knock him out? Man, looking at those bombs he was dishing out at Nog, it is safe to say that Nogīs chin is one of the best in MMA. So if you mean he is a bad match up, because he can knock him out, then this part is nullified.

Nogīs ground is not better than anybody else????? Ok, look at what you just wrote.. you said his BJJ is the best in the world, but his ground game is not better than anybody elses.. does that make sense to you? Not me.

Arona is also a BJJ fighter.. if you say Nogīs BJJ is the best in the world, I donīt see how you can say Arona is better.. is this making any sense to you? And are you even aware that Arona has never fought Big Nog? So how can you even try to compare them.

Oh yeah.. the best BJJ fighter in the world is going to have a hard time taking somebody down, ok, now it all makes sense. And yes Nogīs wrestling is lightyears ahead of Rampageīs. Infact Rampage himself as said on many occasions that he is not THAT GOOD of a wrestler. Just because he slammed Arona doesnīt make him a better wrestler, and it was his skull which hit Arona in the face that knocked Arona out, you can look at Rampageīs 3 inch scar over his eye for the proof. I canīt even believe you are comparing Quintonīs ground game to Nogīs. What are you even basing Rampageīs wrestling skills on? Did you see him submit anybody in Pride yet? If I remember correctly, Sakuraba submitted HIM. Rampageīs strength has always been his stand up and vicious style. Although we should be fair and say that he has been concentrating more on his ground game for the past year.
Sakuraba is an excellent ground fighter, but once again what are you basing his superior ground skills to Nogīs on? Not trying to say he is not good on the ground, that would be ridiculous, but you are comparing him to the best, so what makes his ground game better?.

So Silva was not in trouble against Arona?????? Donīt make me laugh. It was more than just "defensive guard" in the Arona fight.. he just didnīt have a chance against Aronaīs ground game. You need to be fair, even if we all hate Arona, lol.
Silvaīs ground game is average, if anything you should have given justice and said that Nogīs ground game is excellent and Silvaīs is average. His takedown defense is not bad, but defending a takedown, and actually fighting on the ground are two different things. Mirko CroCopīs takedown defense is probably the best I have seen yet.. but his ground game is not that good, at least not compared to his takedown defense.
Listen I am not going to debate you about Nogīs ground game being "average".. take a look at the other people who posted, the whole MMA world knows Nog is the man on the ground, and his standup has gotten incredibly better since training with the Cubans.
I love Silva, he is a great fighter, but letīs be realistic, we are talking about Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Prideīs second best HW, former Pride Heavyweight Champion of the World and only the Fedor the living Steel Amtrak was able take that title away from him.

That's how I feel about it 110%. I couldn't have said it any better. He is a great fighter, but I can't stand him....but I'm an Arona fan too, so what do you expect?
I do hope this happens though. I think Big Nog would win by decision, but he would have a tough time.

Hah, you know, I didn't actually see that response in this thread. I was talking about I didn't want to go anymore off-topic in the Bruce Lee thread, heh. That's fine though.
