Default The next GSP and Hughes matchup...

When do you think it'll happen and what do you think will happen? Personally I think it'll happen sometime around the end of the year, possible UFC 63-65 maybe. I also think GSP is going to come out strong and take out Hughes but take some damage in doing so as long as he can avoid any stupid mistakes.

Probably around August/September, possibly as early as late July. All pending no injuries from the Hughes/Gracie fight in May @ 60.

Hughes definitely -- then he'll be strapping his belt back around BJ's waist in the fall where it belongs.

I highly doubt he loses to BJ. I know nothing was accidental or lucky the first time, but I think it was a case of Matt Hughes severely underestimating his opponent...it won't happen twice.

I think GSP is going to be Matt Hughes. GSP has become SOOO much better since there last fight. GSP already beat BJ so it could be a close fight.
You never know Hughes might slam Goerges right on the mat and retain his title.
Only time will tell...

Matt to BJ after the fight, "I didn't underestimate you."

LOL, have you seen anything since then? I know I've heard Dana say it and I'm almost positive I've heard Matt say it too...guys always say stuff like that right in the heat of the moment so they don't bad and what not. This fight with Royce will show a lot in how well BJ would do in a rematch with Matt.

i think it will help to show how vulnerable, or not, matt is to submissions and bjj but i dont think it will show one aspect of what you would see from a penn / matt rematch...thats penn's striking ability. penn is a much better striker than royce and his ground game is very solid.

I could be wrong, but I think if Hughes and Penn fight again...Matt rolls through him in a big, big way.

In interviews afterwards it was stated that Matt had trained from the Monday after the Trigg fight up until the Penn fight to prepare, only stopping a day or two over the holidays (Christmas and New Years I assume). He did not underestimate Penn, he trained his ass off. Penn is just that good.

The UFC has made it very clear that they plan to hold this fight in August or September. I think it's really tough to call, because while GSP is much stronger in every area than he was for their first fight, it's tough to predict what Hughes is really capable of when pushed to his absolute limits. I don't even know if I include his loss to BJ in that, because that was just about getting caught in a quick submission. I fully expect that GSP-Hughes II will go to a decision.
