Default E3 Gaming Conference -- New UFC Title?!?

Nope.

*sigh...* E3 is happening -- the big annual convention when all the game companies preview their titles for the coming year. People get their hands on the hot titles that they've been anticipating (Halo 3, etc), and announcements are made about games that no one even knew were in development. It's really competitive, and each company tries to top the others with what they've got on the slate.

Doesn't it seem like this would be the perfect time for one of the companies to announce a new UFC or Pride title for either XBOX 360 or the forthcoming PS3?

NOTHING!!!

As an MMA fan and a gamer who got tired of Tapout 2 a long time ago, I think it's crazy that there isn't a next-gen MMA game in development. People talk about it on every fight-related internet forum, Zuffa must know we're dying for one, and yet...

If anyone's ever in contact with anyone from the UFC, maybe if you bump into Dana White at an event or something, can you ask what's up and why they're resisting such an obvious moneymaker?

When I read the thread title I was thinking what in the world does E3 have to do with a new UFC title, as in championship title. But then I realized I'm a moron.

I know what you mean though and I'm surprised. The game companies are usually quick to pick up on trends and MMA is a big one right now.

I'm not very optimistic on there ever being a realistic MMA game. I think it's just too complex to have the transitions from stand up to clinch to ground and give each one realistic attacks, counters and escapes.

I agree with you in the near future with traditional controllers this wouldn't happen. However, when you can play an MMA game where your body movements translate to what's going on onscreen... then I think we will have ourself quite a realistic game.

I was also hoping for some MMA game news from E3 and was let down like the rest of you.

However, I do believe there can be a realistic MMA game created. With the technology on the next-gen consoles, I really believe they can create a solid MMA experience.

It may not end up being 100% like the real deal, but most games aren't anyway. I had a blast with UFC: Sudden Impact, and that was 2 or 3 years old. If they came in and made one for the XBox 360 and PS3, it would look a whole lot better, and they could get improve the physics and gameplay as well.

It would take a lot of time and focus on the sport of MMA, but the developers could definitely do it with today's technology.....especially with more and more MMA fans popping up from everywhere.

Yeah I agree. With the techno. the 360, PS3 and Nintendo Wi I'm sure it won't be very hard to make a realistic and fun MMA game. Dana needs to buy a thinking cap or something like cmon' now is the best time to make a good UFC or Pride game... On the brite side theres HALO3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The thing about it is they can make the fighters and graphics realistic. But how realistic can they make the game? I don't care as much about graphics as I do the quality. I would think that only diehard/hardcore fans could come up with the ideas to make the game really good. And to be honest I don't see many of the programmers of the big companies being into MMA too much.

Jonny, you would be surprised man. There are a ton of WWE fans on the programming side of things, and I'm sure there are a lot of UFC fans as well. The UFC is on fire right now in the United States, and it's only going to grow. Surely, there are some diehard UFC fans on the EA Sports team.

The graphics and stuff would be incredible, but I also believe they can at least get close on the gameplay side of things. Like I said, I loved Sudden Impact, and that was two years ago. They could improve on that a lot, which would make it even more fun.

Then again, not many people enjoyed Sudden Impact as much as I did.

That's true. The thing about that though is WWE has been around for a really long time so they are sure to have a huge fanbase. I know it is possible for the big developers to make a game. I am just hoping for that one guy who really knows what he's talking about to say "no that's not right" and hopefully make it as real as it can be. I wasn't much of a Sudden Impact fan at all. I tried the PRIDE game too and didn't get too far in before giving up on them both.

As hard as it would be to make a quality game, consider the endless possibilities of the Wii, i think it's plausable. I have no idea how it would be done, but i also haven't gotten to use the Wii controller yet.

Sudden impact only used half the buttons on the PS2 controller. If you assigned the R and L buttons to the level of attack, block, or takedown, you could shoot at someone's ankle to dodge a knee, or kick someone in the gut if they covered up their face. bang! the game is more realistic.
