Talking Joe Rogan vs. Mike Goldberg

I'm sorry, I just can't stand Mike Goldberg (you know the announcer with bad grammar who keeps talking whether what he says matters or not).
"The Punk says..." (speaking of Josh 'the punk Thompson) "...he'll slip a little something in when he's boxing, training, working out. You don't get named the punk for nothing. We know that Joe."
Leave it to Mike Goldberg to spend minutes expanding on a fighter's nickname. Here Joe is trying to enlighten the UFC viewers on the submissions being applied, and providing an intelligent outlook on what's going on. But every so often Mike has to interject, "Did you notice Vitor's sporting a new mustache!" or something equally stupid. I get so frustrated at him, it's obvious he doesn't have any fighting background or submission knowledge. Good thing Joe's there to correct him.

After listening to Matt Vascursion (sp) and that other old guy that filled in for him once I'll take Goldy any day. I kinda like Rogan as well. Yeah he seems drunk sometimes but his one liners and his inuendo's are pretty funny sometimes.

I saw Phil Baroni color commentate some WEC fights recently and he was hilarious.

I think Rogan is complete and utter crap. The man is annoying has hell. My biggest complaint about him, besides him acting like everyone watching knows absolutely nothing about mma, is how he completely ****s on some fighters. Like ok sometimes new guys coming in are a bit inexperienced. For example Pe De Pano's first fight in the UFC, Rogan spent a few minutes talking about how amateurish his standup was. I mean 90% of the time, u can tell who Rogan wants to win, by the comments he makes. "oh something like that isnt gonna work on a veteran like___". Plus his information is wrong half the time, he really has no idea what hes talking about.

Goldie I used to like, but he is slowly turning into mini Joe.

I think Bas and Goldie would be a great team though.

I like Rogan, he's a Jiu-Jitsu brown belt, so he does know what he's talking about..and he's funny! Him and Bas would be a perfect team!

Oh good Lord Joe Rogan is the worst commentator I've ever seen or heard. I think he's an idiot's idiot! The village idiot sees Joe Rogan and says "Man, what an idiot!"

Just because he's a brown belt DOESN'T mean he knows what he's talking about. It just means he THINKS he knows what he's talking about. "Oh Man, these guys are SWINGIN!" Stop saying that you moron!!

I would like to step in the octagon to fight Joe Rogan. He may get the better of me but I swear he's going home with no nuts!

LOL, I am sure he would get the best of you and a little more. Like him or not Joe trains almost daily with Eddie Bravo and has for many years plus he is very well rounded. I personally think the guy is pretty good, yeah he has his comments but I think that what makes it interesting.

ROGAN: He's as knowledgeable about the sport as anyone on this board, and if it sounds like he's talking as if the viewer knows nothing about MMA, it's because that's his job. He's supposed to explain what we're seeing for the benefit of new fans, and to provide a little more advanced insight for the vets. He's also funny -- I don't understand the hatred he gets on boards like this one.

Marktown -- I guarantee if you got in touch with Joe Rogan, he'd be happy to fight you at your local gym. He travels a lot doing standup and promotion, and I'm sure he gets to Waco or near enough to make it happen. I've seen him accept challenges like this before, and people usually back down when they see how eager he is.

GOLDBERG: I'll admit, he comes off like a bit of a nerd. But when he was going to leave about six months ago, Rogan posted to the UG to say that Mike is really good at a difficult job. Rogan's pretty much allowed to say whatever he feels like throughout the evenings, while Goldberg's the one who's fulfilling all the requirements for the sponsors and the network (if it's on Spike) and Zuffa. He has to handle the business end of presenting a PPV, while Rogan handles the fight-game end of it.

Definately. I got into mma about a year ago through watching UFC (and eventually Pride) and I learnt a lot about the submissions and stand up moves from Joe's and Bas's commentary.

Plus, when a fight goes to the ground a lot of people lose interest as they dont really know whats going on, so hopefully when Joe talks the viewers through whats happening, it'll help them appreciate it more.

I dig them both, and I really like how Joe simply reacts to things like a regular person, he'll call a fight as being over way before it is. I just find him funny because he reacts to stuff just like a regula fan would.

Despite not being able to hear it perfectly due to being at a bar full of people going nuts all night, I really liked the Joe, Goldberg, Randy combo and hope that becomes the norm

Goldberg is a good play-by-play man, and with the growing popularity (and sponsors) of the UFC, he has to interject the most he can into the 2 hours of programming...

Rogan, well...The main problem I have with him, is when someone is attempting a submission, his constant "Oh, he's got in sunk DEEP"...and 2 seconds later "No, he's out"...If he could curb his enthusiasm for the sub attempts a little more, I think he'd be doing the fighters more justice.

I like Joe Rogan most of the time but you can tell what fighters he wants to win. His commentating is very biased towards his favorites (example: Nick Diaz vs. Joe Riggs)

Just because Joe Rogan has a brown stain on his underoos doesn't count as a brown belt in anything. "Oh man, he got a rear naked choke! This fights over!!" --two minutes later-- "Oh man, this fight's still going, I swore it was over!" --next round-- "Oh man, these guys are SWINGIN!!!" SHUT UP JOE ROGAN!!

I find it amazing that so many people like this guy. I think he's an utter buffoon. I know it's just my opinion but I can't stand him.

By the way, gimme a month to train and I'd TOTALLY fight him! UFC rules... I promise his nuts are going on my mantle!!

Example of Joe Rogan commentating....

" Ok, now he'll throw his leg over his head and he'll have him in an arm bar..... ok.. ok... there goes his leg.... he almost had his leg over..... if he'll just throw his leg over his head he'll have a clean arm bar..... just watch, he'll have an arm bar here, it's all over... And what a great fight!!! He won with an ankle lock!!"

Then during the STUPID post fight interview

Joe-" Let's watch the replay here.... I think you could have thrown your leg over the guys head and gotten an arm bar..."

I assure you, you'd get dominated and submitted/KO'd in the first round. Joe Rogan is a BB in JJ and is also very strong.
