Tim “The Maine-iac” Syliva may only have 2 losses but one of them are to “The Pitbull” Andrei Arlovski. In there first match-up Arlovski beat Sylvia by submission but first landing a straight right knocking Sylvia down to set it up. The second time Arlovski rocked Sylvia but couldn’t continue to poor it on as Sylvia got back to his feet and rocked Arlovski, winning by KO. I see Arlovski able to rock Sylvia again.. Sylvia got lucky the second time around.
Tito Ortiz vs Ken Shamrock
Record: 14-4 Record: 26-10-2
Pick: Ken Shamrock
I never been a fan of Tito Ortiz, I truthfully didn’t like the guy. But the way he trained his fighters on TUF he gained my respect. I see Shamrock as being to old and really not in the mind set to fight. But I feel that Tito Ortiz is still immature and still an ******* that Shamrock thinks he is. Just look at the way he fought Forrest Griffin.
Dan Christison vs Frank Mir
Record: 8-4 Record: 8-2
Pick: Frank Mir
Out of shape and out of his mindset, Frank Mir lost to Marcio “Pe De Pano” Cruz. Out matched, out jiu-jitsued, but Frank Mir will come back this time and will prove why he was he Heavyweight Champion.
Josh Burkman vs Josh Neer
Record: 17-3 Record: 17-3-1
Pick: Josh Neer
Josh Burkman’s UFC wins are over Sam Morgan, and Drew Fickett. Josh Neer has a loss to Drew Fickett but holds wins over Derrick Noble, Forrest Petz,, Melvin Guillard, and Joe Stevenson. Josh Neer had a bad cut over his eye but still caught Melvin Guillard in a rear-naked choke hold, and pretty much man handled a strong wrestler in Joe Stevenson.
Yves Edwards vs Joe Stevenson
Record: 28-9-1 Record: 28-7
Pick: Yves Edwards
Hard match to pick here, both are coming off UFC losses and both were unimpressive in those losses. But! Those where both 170 lb. fights and this fight will be at 155 lb. Joe Stevenson is a strong wrestler only if he can keep his opponent down but I believe Yves Edwards can stay mobile and not get taken down.
Drew Fickett vs Kurt Pellegrino
Record: 29-4 Record: 13-1
Pick: Drew Fickett
4 of Kurt Pellegrino’s 6 win’s are by submission. But Drew Fickett has 16 submission wins. This fight wont be stand up for long. Experience will go far in this match.
Jeff Monson vs Anthony Perosh
Record: 23-5 Record: 5-1
Pick: Jeff Monson
Jeff Monson’s two big losses are to Chuck Liddell and Forrest Griffin but both were by Decision. Anthony Perosh’s 5 wins are all by submission but Monson holds 13 wins by submission. I don’t feel that Perosh could get Monson in a submission with Monson being so small.
Gilbert Aldana vs Cheick Kongo
Record: 5-1 Record: 17-2-1
Pick: Cheick Kongo
Gilbert Aldana has big power and is a KO fighter but the man he’s facing I feel has good up side to him. He record is 7-2, the two losses are to Rodney Faverus 23-11-3 and Gilbert Yvel 28-11-1. I’m taking Cheick Kongo by KO.
Hermes Franca vs Joe Jordan
Record: 13-5 Record: 23-9-2
Pick: Hermes Franca
Joe Jordan has losses to UFC fighters such as Melvin Guillard, Jens Pulver, and Jorge Gurgel. Hermes Franca was one time the #2 fighter in the lightweight division (Yves Edwards being #1). Franca is on a career comeback and he should just keep moving along.
