thai boxing on the commodore 64 way back in the day, had bloody faces and everything you could ever want!! Sweet.
IK+ owned, Warriors on xbox is good for some unhinged brawling.
UFC on Xbox...probably the biggest waste of 5 minutes of my time. Actually no, teaching my friends how to play was the biggest waste of my time.

I know this post is way old but I missed it initially but it reminded me of a classic Dane Cook line.
Three weeks ago one of my dreams came true.
I finally got to see something I've always wanted to witness live.
I finally saw someone get hit by a car.
Nailed, this guy got hit right in the hip.
That's your center of gravity and that sends you flipping through the air
like Eddie Gordo from Tekken when someone doesn't know
how to do combos and they're just hitting the buttons randomly.
Good stuff. If you don't have that album check it out. You will be pleased over and over again as I was.

Definitely Mike Tyson's Punchout. If for nothing else than the sheer awesomeness of the music. My friends and i still hum that **** when we get high. Tekken 3 would be my second. Don't hate on Eddie Gordo! He can be cheap but he's still a great character. Paul would be my second best. On a side note, yoshimitsu's sword is lame. I rather enjoy Super Smash Brother's melee too. But it's very easy for that to be frustrating, especially if you're playing against a puss.

On Tekken 4-5, i like Heihachi. Effective and powerful.
And Jin Kazama, a good defensive/counter-attack character.

gotta chime in on this one.
really good games posted already. Double Dragon was sweet. Street fighter II is definately the game that revolutionized the fighting game genre. If not for SFII, we'd still be stuck with playing Karate, with the two joysticks; still shi* of it's day. Someone mentioned battle toads, talk about memories. For all the love Tekken got, i'm surprised no one mentioned TTT=Tekken Tag Tornament. Many, many memories. The most underrated game, IMO, is Killer instinct II. I couldn't play it worth a lick, but I saw others kick ass on that game. It was beautiful. This topic brings back so many memories, you rock thread starter!

Virtua Fighter 4 Evo.
Sorry guys, but is pisses all over Tekken. Pretty big learning curve at the start but when you learn the techniques and get some hours into the game you'll be hooked.
Shenmue 1&2 is probaly the best Martial Arts RPG (Not really an RPG, it's actually listed under FREE, Full Reaction Eyes Entertainment) and is my favourite game of all time. Only thing is I've been waiting round about 6 years for Shenmue III.

I had one of the earlier UFC fighting game, couldn't remember exactly, but had picture of Tito on the covers. Bought it used without instructions, I couldnt manuver the moves, so didn't like it too much, sold it. There was another great fighting game, arcade, a long long time ago, called Karate Champ, I really liked this game, fights on points, exactly like a karate point tournament, with use of all kicks and punches. Used to walk to the neighborhood corner store, where they had a couple arcades to play it. Out of all action games, I like Resident Evil the most, by Playstation 1 when first came out, vol 1, 2, nothing fancy, just a really good game to play.

I play Fight Night round 3 for my 360 all the time. For old school fighters i gotta go with Mortal Kombatt 3 arcade. I put hundreds of quarters into that machine.
