Season 1 thoughts?
Now that Ultimate Fighter Season 1 is over, what are your thoughts on the show and what do you hope to see in season 2.
I thought the first season was very successful and entertaining right down to the last match between Stephan Bonner and Forrest Griffin. I really thought that Bonner should have won the judges decision, but I am glad that they decided to award both players the 6 figure contract.

I'm just glad that Spike TV had the balls to put that show on the air. I think it was great for the sport. Hell, the Bonnar vs. Griffin match was one of the most exciting matches in UFC history.
Season 2 starts filming in June and is scheduled to go on the air in August. (Last I heard.) I can't wait.

I would have to agree...Those 2 went toe to toe for 15 minutes and gave it everything they had. I am really interested to see Bonner and Griffin fight different opponents, but I'm pretty sure both fighters won't be on the next fight card.

Actually Bonnar is on the UFC 53 card. Griffin, who took most of the punishment in that fight, is not on the card. Go figure.

I don't watch UFC so I don't know who's the top fighter now, but from what you guys say I assume it's either Griffin or Bonnar.

Will Couture and Liddell still be coaching? I thought they both did a great job.

DMaster: Chuck Liddell (Light HW Champion) and Randy Couture (Former LH Champion) are the two most popular fighters right now. Two of the best in the world at that.
Spike TV put on a UFC show called "The Ultimate Fighter." Bonnar and Griffin were fighting for a contract on live TV and put on one of the most exciting fights in UFC history. That is why their names keep coming up.
I hope we get to see two new coaches this time. Hughes and Trigg? I say Trigg because I have no idea wtf St. Pierre is saying half the time.

Both the heavyweight and welterweight division will be featured in season 2. I think the orignial plan was to have Trigg and Hughes as the coaches if Trigg won at 52. But since that didn't happen, it's still up in the air who the coaches will be. It's still rumored that Matt Hughes may be a coach. We should know for sure soon enough. It doesn't appear that they will be building a fight between the coaches this time, like they did in season 1.

I am going to go against my previous post and say "Go with Hughes and St. Pierre." I know that it sounds strange but, as rough as St. Pierre's English is, he's a great guy. The UFC needs to build another fight off of the coaches.
I can't think of two better people to fill that role.

I would like to see anyone from Miletich fighting systems coach at least one of the teams. Pat would be my first choice since he is one of the top coaches in the game, but since Hughes is fresher on the mind of the public and an equally qualified man, he would do great too.
As for heavyweights.. I think Pedro Rizzo would make a great coach as long as Ruas was around some of the time.
Yeah, i guess I am old school.

Rizzo is fighting in Pride now, so I don't think he would be available.
Having Pat as a coach is a great idea in theory. Obviously he is well experienced in training others and has a wealth of knowledge. Plus he has always talked about how he still has one more fight left in him. This would be a great way to build it up. But I think the chances of this happening are slim to none.

One other thing, most of the veiwing of the show. I really didn't think any of them had a shot to do anything in the UFC. I still think only a few of them acually do.

Yeah, I'm still waiting to see how Diego does in the UFC. He had a pretty easy ride, especially the final fight. I just bought a 4 dvd set of King of the Cage and's both Griffin and Sanchez fight on it. I watched Griffin's already and I'm gonna watch Diego's fight today.
Great deal by the way. For the same price as Ultimate Knockouts 3 ($15) You get 4 double sided dvds which have 125 fights which is 13 hours of MMA. Very nice. Production isn't nearly as good (cameras, lighting etc.) but there's some really skilled fighters on there. Some bad ones but some real good ones.

master jones,
I know that Stephan just got back from Vegas where he was doing an interview for TUF 2. So probably all of the TUF 1 guys did or will do at least that much.
