Default Bas / Warpath fight

I just watched the Bas vs. Warpath fight on youtube and Bas looked good. I have to admit though, Warpath as a chin and head made of cast-iron. The third punch that Bas landed in the fight would have flat out KO'd most other fighters in whatever organization and Warpath took it and just kept moving forward. Bas' punches were crisp and pretty sharp. Warpath's strikes looked to be a bit more looping or swatting in nature but once he got into the clinch, he landed several uppercuts. The leg kicks that Bas landed on Warpath were brutal and sounded like someone was hitting his leg with a bat. After the 2nd leg kick to his left leg, he started limping noticably. All it took to finish the match was another leg kick that only glancingly hit its target and Warpath signaled he coulnt contine.

Bas looked good in his return and doesnt look like he lost any of his striking prowess. I look forward to seeing him fight again soon I hope, and against someone that has trained and is ready for a fight.

That being said, Ruben Villareal earned some respect from me in this fight. First off, he stepped up on slightly less than a 2 day notice to take a fight with one of MMA's best strikers. He showed that he can most definitely take a punch as well. I think that, with his size, if Villareal were to slim down a bit and start training properly with coaches (boxing, bjj, conditioning, ect) that he could do quite well in the MMA area.

All in all, a pretty good showing from Bas. Glad to see him back in the mix...
