Alves Out, Diaz In!
http://www.sherdog.com/news/news.asp?n_id=5362
Apparently Thiago Alves is too ill to fight at UFC62 so Nick Diaz will be fighting Josh Neer in his place. Apparently Jake Shields was asked to fight but didnt want to cut 20lbs in 4 days, so Diaz got the offer instead.
Hopefully after his last win, Diaz will come fully prepared and get back on a winning streak. I was hoping we hadnt heard the last of him in the UFC.

This should be a great match! I guess it's put up or shut up time for Diaz!

Thats pretty cool. I love watching Nick fight and usually find myself cheering against him. The dentist is pretty tough and this could be a brawl. I'm looking forward to this fight more than Alves/Neer.................

Yeah I think your right, if Diaz loses this fight it'll be his 4th consecutive UFC loss. I hate to say it because he's real talented and Im a big fan of his, but I think if he loses this then I wouldnt be surprised if we didnt see him fight in the UFC again.

so rarely is it GOOD when someone gets out of an event so close to its time... but this is great!! theres also 0 pressure on diaz to win because its so close to the event.. he just wants to fight, and i respect that, ill be pulling for him

blah i like Alves, I liked how they even gave him two fights on unleashed last week. Oh well i guess we can watch Nick Diaz be passive agressive in yet another fight.

Agreed...Neer is a tough kid, he can take and throw blows with the best of them. I hope Diaz is over his "Stand Up" phase and is ready to submit Neer. Everytime Diaz tries to prove he's a badass striker he either gets rocked or loses to decision. I'm not against him throwing blows but I find he limits himself to only striking when he's in that mood. Shake it up a bit, go for the takedowns too!

Nick Diaz and Josh Neer should be a great fight, and the card just got a little more "name" value for the people who aren't sold on it yet.

To be honest, I would rather see Alvez vs Neer, I think it wil be a lot closer of a fight, and more of a toss up on who will win. Diaz there, I think it wil be a dominating victory for Diaz. Just because he lost doesnt make him a bad fighter, he has loss to some of the top wws, sanchez, riggs, sherk. I think he will dominate Neer in all aspects fo the fight. It will be a tune up fight for him to fight the top talent again, no disrespect to Neer.
I hope this isn't true, and I won't believe it until the UFC announces it.

Nah, he can use the excuse that he was called in last minute to fight. It would hurt his pride but, if he fights hard, I don't think it's a problem for his career in the UFC. If anything, White will probably show some love for Diaz now that Diaz agreed to fight on such short notice.

I think this is a great replacement for a fight. I think Diaz could win the fight if he shows up ready to throw down and not like he did in a couple of his previous fights. If he shows up the same as he did against Lawler, then he could very well take the win. Josh Neer is one tough guy though so this should be a great fight to watch.

This is great news! He's a good fighter and hopefully Nick will be focused and motivated to win. I felt like he let the UFC spotlight, along with the Lawler win, go to his head a bit. I hope he realizes that this could be it for him in the UFC if he doesn't win. I would like too see him use all of his skills and not just his stand-up. I always enjoy watching him fight, and his fight against Karo is still one of my favorites.

I hope Nick comes to fight like he did against Lawler and not as you predict.

I hope so too. But his last 3 fights he has not pushed the action at all. He waits for his opponent to mak ea move first. It was almost as he was trying to win by decision
