Would have to span UFC and PRide I think to have a big enough selection of good fighters.

F' sho. If KOs and subs are scored the same way, then K! can be included.

I would be down for setting up a rudimentary program if the guys at FF are too busy and if modifying a boxing fantasy script would be too much work. It wont be pretty, as I dont know jack **** about interface programming, but it could at least be a blue print.
For general 'curiousity', which weight class would we be talking about? Start small, then dream big.. I will try to hammer out a single division and include most of the more well known shows. That is of course if the guys here (Rakus, Guile) havent already been working on something like this.. or if they are too busy.
Last thing I want is a programmer feud!

Definitely would be pretty sweet. Would you be able to trade fighters as well?
And would things like the SPike TV special count?

Would things like the SpikeTV speical give an unfair advantage to Pride fighters or not? Lots of things to brainstorm about and discuss, lets keep these ideas rolling

Maybe only drafting one per weight class, which would help aginst having two of your guys fighting each other? Or one per class per organization?

Just brainstorming here....
1 Everyone starts with X amount of points
2 Fighters are ranked, the best ones costing the most points
3 You can sell fighters back to the system for points (which can earn/lose you points depending on how they've been doin)
4 point 3 would mean that fighters cost would be re-evaluated each time they fight
5 you can trade fighters at your discresion

More 'stormin
Maybe more points for winning in a higher WC, and for sucessful title defenses. More for major upsets?

I dunno about more points just because it's a higher wc. weight doesn't really translate into skill. I bet Hughes will still be slamming people if he ever moved up.
We could score it like fantasy football.
Certain points for subs, ko's.
More points the earlier in the fight they win.
If it's a decision then the loser gets a certain amount of points relative to the amount of point difference in the decision

Interesting topic. I'm always trying to think of things to do.
I have a different kind of idea that deals with pretty much the PPVs and the Ultimate Fight Nights. I could do it for Pride too, but I was just thinking about UFC for now. Here is just an example of how each fight would go.
UFC Light-Heavyweight Championship
Jeremy Horn vs. Chuck Liddell (Champ)
Winner (10 points)-
KO, TKO, Submission, or Decision (5 points)-
What Round Did Fight End, if Any? (5 points)-
Move Used To End Match (this could be forearm, rear naked choke, etc.)(5 points)-
That would give a total of 25 points per match. And we could do that for every match and even change a little of it up. I have done these before, and people seemed to like them.
If nobody seems to like it here, then scrap it. But I was going to give it a shot for next week's Ultimate Fight Night. Also, if it picks up and does well next year, we could even get the year-end winner a DVD of their choice or something..
Just some ideas.

I think that'd be cool. I'd divide it up between PRIDE and UFC though. Pick 5 fighters from each.

Could it be a problem that fighters dont work with the predictable regularity of a QB or pitcher?

That's why I think my idea would work well. I would just do it from event to event. That way, about a week before the PPV, I can post it and we can all make our picks.
I think picking fighters from each would be very tough to judge for the reasons you just stated.
My idea definitely isn't any kind of fantasy league. It's more like a PPV Challenge.

I'm currently part of a mma fantasy league. The season started in April and will run one year. We have it worked out real sweet. If you guys need any suggestions or help coming up with scoring or anything like that let me know and I'll fill you in on how ours works. It's coming along really well, no bugs to work out so I'm just offering a little help through experience.

We have it worked out like this:
If a fight ends in KO/TKO/Sub then it's +150 points for the winner and -150 points for the loser.
If it ends due to Dr. stoppage it's +/-125.
Dec. or DQ. is +/-100
and a draw is +25 for both fighters.
If the fight is a championship fight such as the Fedor/Mirko fight that's coming up, an extra 25 points gets added to all the above totals.
It is possible to go into the hole if your fighter loses.
We don't have a points system for posts like FF does so all the points are for is really bragging rights and a chance to get an early spot in next years draft.

Has anyone run this idea by the Admin I think he'll like it and this would be good be a good thing we'll have to do something about the points you get though they can't be too low or too high and there should only be one person to a fighter and after you get one there should be a certain amount of time you have to wait till you can get another
