Warning System in Place
We have added a new warning system to FightForum to help keep things running smoothly and ensure a pleasant enviroment for our members.
You will notice that each user now has "Warnings 0/5" below their forum points. When a user's Warning Level reaches 5, they are automatically banned for 14 days. You will receive a PM with details if you have been warned.
We have also decided to make all Warnings publicly viewable by other members. To view a member's warnings, just click on the Warning Level below their name.
We are very serious about maintaining the high standards of FightForum. We want a community where anyone can carry on an intelligent fight discussion without being harrassed by spammers, high-jackers, or just plain idiots with nothing better to do.
98% of the members here have nothing to worry about, but the other 2% should think about cleaning their act up. Here is a list of offences, followed by the amount of warning points issued :
Spam (Level 1) Minor Spam Incident 1
Cursing (Level 1) Minor Cursing Incident 1
Thread Hijacking (Level 1) Minor Annoying Changing of the Topic 1
General Warning (Level 1) Actions Deemed Inappropriate 1
Verbal Attack (Level 1) Verbal Attack on Another Member 2
Thread Hijacking (Level 2) Repeated Changing of the Topic 2
Spam (Level 2) Moderate Spam Incident 2
Cursing (Level 2) Moderate Cursing Incident 2
General Warning (Level 2) Actions Deemed Inappropriate 2
Thread Hijacking (Level 3) Blatant Repeated Changing of the Topic 3
Spam (Level 3) Major Spam Incident 3
Cursing (Level 3) Major Cursing Incident 3
Verbal Attack (Level 2) Moderate Verbal Attack on Another Member. 3
General Warning (Level 3) Actions Deemed Inappropriate 3
Verbal Attack (Level 3) Major Verbal Attack on Another Member 4
General Warning (Level 4) Actions Deemed Inappropriate 4
General Warning (Level 5) Actions Deemed Inappropriate (Temp Ban) 5
General Warning (Level 6) Actions Deserving of a Permanent Ban 100

The context is a big part of what determines the severity. Using profanity directed at other members is far more severe than just using it. I would recommend that people try to find more articulate ways to express their opinnion. So yes, I would avoid the sh!t and * style subsitiutions.
I've slipped a few times in the past myself. The goal isn't to make this place a prision. We're just making a concious decision to promote a clean enjoyable enviornment for everyone. Admins and staff included.

Good stuff guys. I definitely support holding this forum to a higher standard than most and really making it a professional environment for fans to have intelligent debates and discussions.

If you can't speak freely about your personal opinions on a fighter what good is it???
some guy was talkin about baroni, complimented his fighting ability but used the term "DUck" (replace the U with an I) and was warned verbally...
What if he stated he did not like baroni then was asked why?? What are you suppost to do?? write a list of all things baroni says that makes you shake your head?? how is he suppost to express himself about baroni as a person??
Baroni isn't nice??
Baroni has a potty mouth??
Baroni is rude??
but none these get the proper pooint across..
Baroni is a DUCK(replace the U with an I) whether we like it or not.
so why does it have to be kept a secret??
I can see fighter bashing calling Nakao a queen (replace n with r) for kissing herring would be something offensible and possibly intollerable but man loosen the noose and give us some air..
This is internet communism..

Everyone else seems to get along fine without having to complain. And a warning is not a big deal. Don't know why you are so upset. Just stop complaining and contribute to the community.

i think the system is a good idea... it keeps the board nice and respectful especially for those younger people who are interested in MMA.... just keep it fair everyone, just because someones been here for a long time doesnt give them the right to go overboard (jras)
other then that i like it, it prevents it from being a name calling contest and keeps the issues on topic (sometimes)

Your probably right. Communism has never existed--only the socialist state that tries to evolve toward communism. Since communism is a classless society and as long as one homeless guy who has more cans will look down on another, communism is not possible. We love our hierarchies. Freedom to dissent is good, and contributor "MMA" should be allowed to do so. Overall, we are a happy forum that is fairly clean. We like the level of courtesy and the healthy degree of debate.

I have actually been very impressed how smoothly it goes on this site. I really enjoy a lot of the discussions on various forums. It's a good place to go after or during a fight just to discuss or see what others think.
Other forums it's obvious a bunch of teenage kids who dont know anything or worse, some MMA geek who thinks they know everything then gets irritated when you try to intelligently debate them.
Here it seems everyone is just feeding off the other and it stays very interesting. Not everyone always agrees, but it's a logical disagreement most of the time here.
I hope this site grows and would be willing to help it grow, it's a good source of Info on fights, etc.
My only suggestion is to have some sort of fighter search engine on here. But as for everything else, I love it! Keep up the good work Fight Forum.

I think it was lost when someone hacked into this site the 1st time and fightforum was down a few days, after that I don't remember seeing the warning sytem where you could view what a person did wrong to get the ole Heave-Ho!
