I donīt even use a stand alone dvd player, I got a cable from graphic card ( TV-Out or S-VHS OUT) going to my TV. Why waste money on a DVD player, when I got one in my PC. Itīs even better if you get Windows Media Center Edition, your PC turns into a super digital entertainment system and you can remote control everything on your PC and watch it all on your TV. If you have a TV Card you can use the PC to record shows/movies/whatever on your Harddrive and then burn them. To bypass region codes, I use Power DVD 5, or VLC Player like Aika.
For those who donīt want to pay the 10 bucks for such a cable, and rather have a stand-alone player.. DVP642 for $50 plays anything ( Region Free/mpg4/xvid/divx...blah blah blah). XORO HSD 4000 is also very good. By the way if you guys have dvd players with region locks (most lock up after playing a certain region 5 times) try checking out various sites which offer DVD codes. They are usually codes that unlock the region again. Check out this site.
