Brandon Vera vs. Frank Mir for UFC 65
The fight we've all been waiting for. The truth vs. the Sylvia Crusher. Predictions?
I say Vera by vicious leg kick to the head in the first.

If MIR comes in shape and takes this fight seriously and goes to the ground, who knows. It should be a good ground game with a slight edge to MIR. Toe to Toe?
I agree, freakin Vera by head kick.
Or worse!

Frank will not have any part of Vera standing up. I hope he comes in shape and does well because I hate seeing people crack on him. The guy went from potential legend to a joke basically overnight. But I guess I'm not surprised since "fans" turning their back on the greats isn't all that uncommon.

This will be Vera's best test so far with the big heavy weights 240+. I think Mir has the edge because of size, assuming he is back in shape and ready.

That is true, but I think Mir brought this on himself slightly when he showed up at UFC 61 with a spare tire.

Scherner is 250+ (257 on Sherdog). Vera's been fighting as a HW. He must have run through someone else that big.

I'm worried about Mir in this fight. Brandon Vera is a real well-rounded fighter at HW. He will not show any weakness with Mir. And, I just do not think Mir is ready for this right now. So many "If he comes ready" questions. I think I agree, Vera by vicious KO.

Yup, Vera by vicious KO. I always like Mir but at the same time I've beena big supporter of Vera as well. I thought Frank would show up last time after all of the bashing he took and still he didn't. I don't see this as being any different. Although I hope it is.

I really like Mir, he was one of my favorite fighters pre-accident. I hope he does well in this fight but if he isn't in shape, he is done! If he is in shape then maybe he can give Vera a challenge.

I hear ya man. I was pretty much D.) for days after Diaz lost to Diego and BJ lost to St. Pierre.

Why does Mir have to fight Vera right away. The UFC should have given him fights that are a better match to him. I think that Mir vs. Kongo would give mir a better chance of winning. Don't get me wrong I would not be surprised to see Mir submit Vera but Vera is to destructive for Mir right now.

It's all about Mir's mental attitude I think. Mir has been beating Mir since the accident. I was embarrassed for him coming in so outta shape. Mir is my favorite fighter, he has all the great characteristic of a champion except 1, I hope he can come back from adversity and fill that gap.

I totally agree. I mean the guy got in to a motorcyle crash and broke his hip. Hip surgery can be career or life ending in many cases.
And he still came back.
We have yet to see if he can come back 100%, but I like Mir, I've met him on several occasions and he conducts himself like a true martial artist. He went through an accident that wouldve ended most people's careers.
This will be a true test because Vera is young, hungry and doesent give a flip.
You stand across the ring from The Truth, you'd better be able to handle the truth that you may not be ready.
If Mir pulls out a win though????? He's back... Big Time!!!!!!

I've said everything I think about Mir in another thread so I won't repeat here. Much respect to him of course but Vera by KO.
