Compare the program to what ever else you watch on free TV (actually it's not free but non-PPV). I watch Unleashed, UFN, TUF, PRIDE FC, IFL, Bodogfight. Some of you are comparing to "Laguna Beach" and "The Real World". I've never seen anything but previews and these are shows for teens and ladies. How can anyone watch that crap and complain about TUF?

i agree, but you can tell how every season they focus more on house stuff, then training. I mean GSP and Randy were announced as advisors but they havent gotten much tv time. Plus Dana's decision to take the fights to 2 rounds instead of 3, so they could show more "reality" put another nail in the coffin.

the only thing i'd like is for them to show more training and a little bit less of the reality stuff. i actually like the show though and have seen every episode from season 1. also they should start the fights at the halfway mark every week. i know there worried about people tunning out but thats when they should through in there 'drama' stuff when theres a short fight hit us with the drama for the last 15 minutes.

At the start, Dana white said TUF would be: "the most exciting season yet".
RAWNG! TUF4 has actually been quite dull actually. Its easily the WORST of the TUF-seasons yet.
This show was also titled "the comeback". When actually its just been a showcase of WHY those guys all fell off the map to begin with. Each episode is a display of their problems, wheither it be maturity issues, close-mindedness, lacking in proper training, etc.
MOST of these guys seems to be repeating the mistakes that caused them to flopp out of UFC to begin with. Like pete spratt having zero ground game, and STILL not yet working on it. Even before the fight, he'd rather train on takedown-defense, than training on what to do IF taken down.
Meh. Also for some reason when watching TUF4, i know these guys are'nt THAT old, but i feel like i'm watch an bunch of old fogeys who could've been contenders at their best, but are now washed up. Bahh not very interesting.

Looks like I’m in the minority but I have enjoyed season 4 the most of all them.
My wife and I look forward to every Thursday. Its one of the few shows we both like and watch together.

Because TUF is a reality show first only they have planned fights at the end of the show. The staged stuff is worse in TUF as well. The other shows at least make it believable. There are some things I've seen on the other shows that I didn't know were setup until that "reality secrets revealed" or whatever it's called was shown. TUF is for teens and ladies as well as guys, just like the other shows are. TUF just puts on a macho front but still wants to attract the teens and ladies who love them some reality shows.
And again the only reason I complain is because I'm just tired of reality shows in general. And TUF is not different at all.

Pffft those guys should be contenders on the show itself. As they're both in the same position as those TUF4 guys. Both fell off the UFC ladder a while back and hav'ent been the same since.

It's not Dana's decision. These are exhibition bouts, and in the Athletic Commissions rules, they have to be two rounds with a sudden victory round if needed at the end.

right, so how do demi finals get three rounds?? i thiought they were all exhibition (including the semi finals, thats why sherdog and ufc dont recognise their wins from the show).

I think 'The Ultimate Fighter' is a missed opportunity. It's the perfect forum to teach the audience what a kimura IS, and how to defend it. Or a neck triangle or a heel hook.
The TUF fighters come from different disciplines, and they need to work on different things to become mixed martial artists. Watching the fighters train different techniques and defenses WITH commentary, would educate the audience, and vastly improve the show.

are you suggesting an instructive component? tha would be cool. if you mean the present structure, i have never seen how a kamura is applid or defended.

Haha. That idea has potential. I'm sure the Octagon Girl competition went over well. Why not combine two good ideas into one? Seriously if they are going to have mud wrestling matches I sure as heck don't want it to be a guys mud wrestling match.

it was dana's decision. He made the decision right before season 3. If you remember season 1 and 2 were 3 rounds fights from the beginning. Also last season the NVSAC gave UFC permission to make these fights count on fighters records.

The fights on the show are not in Sherdog's records, because the fighters don't get paid for the fights. Thus they are not PROFESSIONAL MMA-fights.
Remember the guys in the first season bitching about having to fight for free? That's because if they'd get paid, everyone would know the results before the show aired.
The amount of rounds doesn't matter in that regard. I think the 2-round fights are dumb though.

They do get paid. You should watch the show. The fighter that wins gets paid $5000 for that win. Those are professional fights, whether you like it or not. The reason that they are NOT listed in the UFC records or the Sherdog records is due to one simple reason: the fight results do NOT get reported until the night that the show airs on TV. In order to have the fights listed the results must be reported publically within 24 hours of the end of the match.
