Le sigh, the worst decision the UFC ever made was advertising these season of TUF as fighters "fighting for one last shot at the title". A lot of these guys have a long time before they hit that wall. This might be their "last shot at the title" because of what it takes to get to that point. Stringing together a series of wins over UFC class opponents is very difficult, and does not come without a bit of luck. That does not in any way shape or form make them has-beens.

That's almost half the TUF cast that's under 30 years old. That is more than 10 years, could be 20 years left in the fight game for some of these guys. The oldest person is Pete Spratt, who is 35. There are a few of these guys who this was most likely their final shot. Because they either don't have the drive, free time, or time in general left to round out their game, climb the ranks, get the title, and defend it. But for these guys, the only reason they aren't up-and-comers like the first 3 seasons is because....THEY ALREADY MADE IT. And how you can be considered a "has-been" at under 30/low 30s is beyond me. I think it was a great decision by the UFC. Three seasons woth of TUF has gained a lot of recognition for up-and-comers. A lot of TUF 4 were just under the radar for mainstream UFC fans. Even if you aren't an avid fan, you can learn who Yves Ewdards and Karo Parisyan are by watching Unleashed. A lot of these guys are great fighters who deserve to be in the public eye, but you've probably only seen them on the receiving end of a highlight reel. I'm really glad that season is composed mostly of guys who are veterans, got thrown to the wolves, or got screwed. But you obviously can't market it as that. Which is where everything went bad.
One of the reasons i think this season has been so good, is it's done a good job of portraying the intangibles. You can see why some of these guys didn't, or haven't made it. Some of these guys have gotten the biggest screw jobs in UFC history. I've loved retracing all the fighter's histories and listening to their commentary about it.
