Default Phil Baroni Back in the UFC?

Well, I always go to MMAWeekly to check out the rumors section for upcoming events. Today I saw Phil Baroni's name on there for UFC 57 on SuperBowl weekend.

What does everyone think about him returning to the UFC? He hasn't exactly had a great year in the MMA world. He lost to Pete Sell early in the year and then lost in the quarterfinals of the Bushido tourney.

Does he still have anything to offer? I personally think his style fits the UFC a little better than Pride, and it would be good if he had a little more success. The UFC can always use a big name like Baroni.

I'm just wondering if he is really worth the hype. I haven't seen him win too many fights in my short time of watching the UFC. And the past records show he hasn't won many either.

Edit: I meant to post this in the regular UFC forum, but I accidentally posted in the UFC Fighters section instead. If it's ok here, then leave it. But if not, just move it to the regular UFC forum. Sorry about that.

Just saw the same thing myself. Phil Baroni has a chance to do well. He made a good comeback in pride for a while and I think he could do well back in the UFC. Maybe this might be the fight with the bodybuilder.

Phil sucks as a fighter, he swings for the fences and has little skill. He needs to stick to tufman competitions, oh yeah he got his ars kicked there too!!

I am not much of a Baroni fan at all. But let's get some facts straight.

While his fight with Sell was a terrible showing, he's had 4 good fights since then, going 2-1 in Pride against two of their biggest name. He KO'd both Minowa and Ryo Chonan, while losing a decision to Minowa in the Bushido tournament. He's training full-time with Hammerhouse (Coleman and Randleman) and that is helping some I'm sure. So while he has a poor history in UFC, to say he completely sucks is overstating it. He is very well liked in Pride.

He's improved by tenfold while in Pride. He only lost to Minowa because Minowa literally layed on him for 15 minutes. One of the boringest fights ever. He's a lot better. Plus, he did well against Sell. Sell was about to lose and pulled that match out of his ass. I'm not a huge Phil fan, but I do respect is skils.

I hate Phil Baroni. He has no talent and waits for luck to occur. That is how he knocked out that crappy fighter and it took him about 20 punches as well. His record is terrible compared to other UFC fighters so I don't care if he comes back. I just would like to see him more improved.

I know that he was fighting over in Pride, and i wouldn't be surprised to see him pop up in the WFA soon.

he is such an explosive fighter.. if he could only keep his head in the game he woudl be a star. hope he's not juicin though that may be a reason to stay where he is? my favorite fighter hands down but i never get a chance to see him in pride.

Baroni is entertaining to watch but annoying to listen.. I mean his attitude. If he comes back to UFC, then it's ok i guess..

Yeah, he and Dana should have a contest to see who can drop the most F-Bombs in one interview!
