I was a paying member at Sherdog for a while, and I don't personally believe it's worth the money.
If you look at their front page, you'll see the headlines for articles and videos that are members only. So only the subscribers get to read / watch them. That'd be cool if there were more members-only items. They might add one every couple of weeks, usually right before or after a major MMA event.
There's a series called "In the Gym" which is videos of fighters training in preparation for a specific fight. But really, there's not much to them. It's not like an episode of All Access, it might just be a few minutes of Josh Koscheck rolling with a training partner, or Wanderlei Silva hitting the thai pads. Those are cool clips, but are they worth paying for? Youtube has lots of free vids of fighters kicking the bag and sparring, and these new ones aren't any different.
Sometimes they have interesting articles, like when they get Randy Couture to go through an upcoming UFC card fight by fight giving his predictions. But again, there wasn't enough of that stuff to justify the money.
Paying means you don't see any ads when you visit the site, but now that I'm not paying, I still don't even notice them.
But the number one reason I would advise against subscribing to Sherdog is their bizarre and shady billing policy.
Like a lot of sites (and gyms, lol), they automatically renew your membership and bill your credit card unless you cancel by a certain date in advance. The date is WAY in advance. Like I used to pay in 3 month increments. The date I had to cancel by was 2 months into my paid period. You'd think that cancelling meant that I'd get what I paid for and then they wouldn't auto-renew, but NO. If you want to cancel, your only option is to actually give up your membership by that date (as I said, a month before my paid period expired). You get a big warning saying, "Are you sure? Be advised that if you cancel now, you will no longer have any of the benefits that paid members enjoy." So your choice is to either cancel then and give up a month of what you paid for, or wait and let the date go by, in which case you're on the hook for auto-renewal. Drove me nuts.

Is there any place that doesn't have shady billing policies? Everyone always have some way to squeeze a couple extra bucks out of you.

Wow that is completely rediculous. If that isn't illegal it should be. You should definitely not lose any time you paid for because you don't want to renew.

If you behave like that again, I will change some settings in your Control Panel - subscription to ALL threads, you know. You don't mind getting 200 emails a day, do you?

I had it for 2 years and the only thing other than some of the crap topics Sherdog puts up is the fact that they do not have press Credentials to many MMA productions.
So everything they get as far as interviews are from fighters exiting the venue, or at a bar, or at home.
Hell anyone can do that.
Many fighters are also being asked to shy away from Sherdog because of their overkill bias for Pride. As everyone knows, there is alot of competition between American fighters and Pride fighters and that doesn't always lend itself well to friendly discourse between US fighters and Sherdog interviewers.
One only needs to listen to TIm Sylvias interview with Josh Gross over the summer to just sense how irritated Sylvia was with the questioning about the differences between him and CroCop, Fedor, etc. etc. Gross all but went as far as saying that Arlovski is a can and a Pride reject so no wonder why Sylvia beats him easily. And that kinda you could sense ticked Sylvia off.
Not worth the 50 bucks to have such a slanted view of MMA news IMO.

I just don't see how you can complain about their free stuff. In fact they usually have the best interviews and not slanted views. They only do them at hotels and stuff now because Dana hates Sherwood and Gross. And it sounds like your description of the Sylvia interview and Sherdog is tainted with UFC bias. I must have seen a different interview because it wasn't like that at all. Also they aren't biased for Pride and no fighters are being asked to shy away from them seeing as how Franklin was on Beatdown today. Sherdog just hates Dana because he's pulled some pretty ridiculous crap on them recently.
Oh and the interviews on UFC.com are as bad as they can possibly get.
