TUF 5 is rumoured to be all LW's, 8 noobs and 8 fighters who are already in the UFC. They should chuck the reality crap and just show tranining, highlights and fights.

I don't like TUF 4 as much as others, just becuase the fact i've seen most of them before. I like watching the younger noobs.

i was thinking the same thing. TUF4 featured a cast that were supposedly all professionals. fighters who had already climbed the ranks to the UFC before and lost. basically it was a show full of former losers. looking at it like that its not surprising that the show was less successful than the others.

Since the first TUF show, they have been taking things out of the show such as the competition events and just concentrated on training, drama in the house, and the fights. If they dont do something to keep the show from becoming more bland, it will continue to get poor ratings. With the shots of the next weeks episode, people will know who gets to fight and people only watch when people they want to see fight are going to be on. I also think they have way too little camera time with Randy and GSP. Im sure the reason is because they didnt do anything that caused drama or tension, such as what Hughes tried to do with the whole Serra / Laimon thing. Randy and GSP were on the show from day one and Hughes was there for a week and Hughes received 5 times the camera time than Randy and GSP combined so far. I think with Jens Pulver and possibly BJ Penn being coaches next season and it being a lot of LW fighters, it will be a fun show. LW matches tend to be the most exciting.

I bet ratings would go even lower. If Dana really wants ratings to skyrocket he needs to fill the house with prettyboys who shave their chest, wax their bikini lines, walk around in speedos, wear sunglasses at night, and puffy jackets, etc. America has this obsesssion with only wanting to see Ken dolls on teleivision. Oh but there also has to be the homophobe, the effimanite, the tough guy, the ladies man, the introvert and so on. And they also want drama, drama, and more drama. And a little bit of drama on the side.

Yeah, you're right. I always seem to be swimming upstream. If I like a show it gets cancelled. If I hate it, it's a sure bet for an Emmy.

Isn't that the truth. I don't know if there is a show out there I really really like that isn't cancelled.
That's the thing that is sad. Is yeah I was exaggerating but not by much really. Americans just want to see good looking people. I know no guy is ever going to admit it but they would rather have the pretty boys who are party animals over old rugged guys who are on their second time around just trying to make a living. But they can't get the respect they deserve because they're "has-beens".

For real. I don't know how people can complain about this season. We've gotten more action, and the drama has been boredom fun and bull****, there haven't been any mean-hearted people. Plus i thought season 3 was the worst, so this is a huge step up.

Free MMA every week when there's nothing on.
How can you complain?

I am not suprised with the general thoughts here and agree. This is certainly my least favorite season as well. TUF3 had its odd-points, but was still a lot more exciting.

This season was tragically flawed from the beginning in that most of the fighters lack certain parts of thier game that they can't fix at this point in thier career. And that some of them have serious mental problems that obstruct thier ability to fight(Spratt's lack of confidence,Jackson's ladies,Burnett's problems). Also they're getting a title shot that that they don't necessarily deserve and they're almost guranteed to lose.Which makes this entire season rather pointless. All these flaws have lead to a somewhat lack luster season.
Even with all it's low points it's still free MMA on cable, and I'd rather watch it than Everybody Loves Raymond or whatever crap is on at the time.We gotta support the sport, and I have no problem sitting through 45 min of drama for a free MMA fight.Next season is supposed to be all LWs so I'm excited for that.
But God forbid they air Laguna Beach on Thursday nights.Because then my TUF watching days will be over.

See, now if Grave had said something like that from the getgo i'd have no quarrel with him. Nicely said Ryduce. However i don't think the title shot thing plays a role in this season's poor ratings. You forget sometimes most of those people out there in tv land have absolutely no idea what they're talking about. Or thinking for that matter. The removal of the challenges really hurt the show for me. I understand though as it was clearly detrimental to the fights. How about like chess matches to see who picks the fight lol? Anything rather than nothing. As much as i love learning about the fighters personally, it's so predetermined by the UFC. And it doesn't take me 12 episodes to figure out how the UFC wants me to feel about a fighter.

I liked the challenges too...they just substituted it with more drama--which some of us may like--but I rather see more physical activities...
