players like caldwell, maloney, boyd, burke, mcmanus, riordan, ferguson and wilson all play with scotlands top 2 teams.
we have been in euro championships and world cups but have never got through the group stages.
football in scotland is IMPROVING tho, the national team is top of the group with italy and france in it, beating france a few months ago.
Celtic have just qualified for the last 16 in the champions league a massive achivement for a team costing ~£17million, we got to the uefa cup final a few years ago to and lost to a cheating porto.
rangers have qualified through the group stages of the UEFA cup and got through to the last 16 in the CL a few years ago to.
Celtic won the european cup in 1967 so woul dbe great for celtic and scottish football if we could do something similar.
i think alot of people south of the border dont give scottish football the credit it deserves or any respect.
hopefully that will change as i belive if celtic were in the english premiership we would be top 5 in our first few seasons and after the financial benefits come into it celtic would seriously contend for the title.

i agree with you that scottish football is improving, and i think you will do much better this time round than you have for some time in euro. as far as clubs go it also looks promising. having an impact on europe will help greatly, especially in terms of the scottish league gaining respect.
however i think your being optimistic on finishing top 5 in the english premiership if celtic played in it. i'd say definitely top ten, but with clubs like portsmouth, villa, everton and bolton steadily improving, i believe celtic would be pushed towards the lower end of it.
cannot wait for the game tomorrow though, gonna be an amazing atmosphere!
