New MMA Weekly rankings, wtf??
new mmaweekly ratings are out, and i have a few questions (as per usual when the rankings are updated)
1) why is lindland still number 1 when he has lost 2 in a row, neither of which were in the division, and he hasnt fought in the division he is atop in quite some time?
2)why is rampage #2 in lhw after he beat chuck (former #1). i understand that shogun has beaten rampage, but serra is ranked #1 after he beat gsp, although karo beat serra a while back? this seems similar to when when franklin was #1, and then silva beat him, so silva became #2. again, wtf??
3) last questio: is it just me, or are these rankings getting weirder by the month?

I like how Gomi got destroyed by Diaz, yet, Gomi is #1, and Diaz isn't even in the top 10....
Cro Cop ahead of Gonzaga and Randy, mean while Gonzage beat Cro Cop, and Randy is the champ...
Hmmmmmmm........

off topic, but stylin av ticl. nice to see you finally came around lol.
about sherk, i dunno. he has had 1 fight in lw and beat kenflo, so i am not sure. also, you guys notice how 1 week sherk will be on there, then the next update he wont be, but then he is after that. all this despite the fact that he hasnt fought in since he won the belt. strange

Very odd rankings for sure. How the hell is Serra #1 in the world if they truly are "comprehensive" rankings which take into account opponents etc on top of records? Good thing they have no bearing whatsoever.

Yeah these rankings are messed. I don't like Serra or Lindland being number ones among other things, you can toss Gomi in there also.
In all fairness though, yes they are not that great, but it would be so hard to make rankings that people agreed with normally. When there have been so many unranked fighters knocking off the top 5's it gets really complicated.

Lindland at #1 is dumb. And so is Hendo at #5 in the same weight class.
Same with Diaz-Gomi-Sherk.
Putting Serra #1 is a bit much too, but it's different from the Page-Shogun-Chuck scenario, because GSP was so clearly #1 at WW before losing to Serra (and should still be imo).
Shogun however, is the obvious and only sensible choice for #1 at LHW.
His last (and only) loss at LHW was back in 2003 in his 5th fight - to then top 10 fighter, Babalu.
Since then he's beaten top 10 and former top 10 fighters such as Rampage, Lil Nog, Arona, Randleman, Nakamura and Overeem.
Rampage should be ranked above Chuck now after beating him twice. But just because Chuck was #1 doesn't mean Rampage should overtake Shogun as well. Especially as Shogun has beaten Rampage not so long ago.
Shogun's record is more impressive anyway.
The ranking between Shogun and Chuck was always a clear-cut "imo" ranking, because they've both beaten pretty much everyone in their respective organizations. Shogun could have easily been #1 even before Chuck lost.
So no, this time I don't think the rankings got weirder.
It was the right decision.
But yeah, they're not really showing consistency with their picks.

I was just listening to Tagg Radio and Trigg's not too happy about Misaki being ranked above him, seeing as he recently beat him! They also agreed with what a lot of us are saying about Lindland being no.1.

These rankings are beyond messed up! Cro Cop is the top ranked UFC heavyweight despite Couture being the champ and Gonzaga completly dominating their match. Serra got a free ride to #1 by being champ (but Couture and Sherk 2 more deserving guys) didn't? BJ Penn is #6 despite not havingwon a fight in who knows how long(and his next fight is at 155)! Diego beat Parisyian so of course..Karo is ranked above him. And even though the NSAC overturned the decision(which I disagree which) Gomi did get beat by Diaz and Diaz should at least be ranked!
