Best Fight Scenes in Movies
Guess I am not the only one who enjoys exciting fighting in movies. What movie contains the best choreographed scenes?
Let me name one example to get the discussion going:
"Mortal Kombat" - Liu Kang vs. Reptile: I love this scene, the sound supports the action quite well I think. I heard Robin Shou (who plays the character of Liu Kang) is responsible for the choreographies.

Ang Bak: The thai warrior, just came out on DVD dubbed in english. Its supposse to have the best fight scenes ever, but not the best action. Im gunna rent it and let you all know how it is if you havent seen it. But as of now i like all the matrix fights, except matrix 3, that went down the tube and killed the trilogy. And i agree with Drum, Transporter is a good movie.

You took the words right out of my mouth! The Transporter was my favorite martial arts film ever. Great fight scenes and a decent plot.

It was definitely a surprise for me. The martial arts style used was very cool. Had some jump kicks and stuff but was a very military type style with alittle of that classic Jackie Chan thrown in a la using objects around as weapons.
Also, and I can't believe this didn't come to mind first, the Bourne series (Identity and Supremecy). Also very military type. The scene when the guy jumps through the window in the office and has that small knife and Bourne grabs the pen...very cool

I´ve seen that one.. Ong Bak. It´s has some of the best fight scenes I have seen, but the movie is so bad, that after 1 hour, even the fight scenes don´t impress anymore.
However there are some scenes which actually make you shrug, saying "Daaaaaaaammmmnnnn".

Allot of Jet Li´s movies have good scenes, Bruce´s movies are tops. Even Steven Seagal has made good fighting scenes, I remember a movie from him called Glimmer Man? not sure. He walked into a restaurant, and opened a can of A** whooping. Very impressive.

Gladiator was awesome too. Not very martial arts oriented but amazing fight scenes for sure. The Patriot was awesome too.

Last of the Mohicans had some excellent violence, though it's not so much the kind we're looking for. I was going to make fun of Seagal but somebody already mentioned him ><

My favourite fight movies:
JCVD as Frank Dux in Bloodsport!
"wax on/wax off" and "the flamingo" in Karate Kid! (I was like 8 when I saw it and I practiced those moves every day for a year after)
Gladiator is my favourite movie
I dislike any movie that has "Matrix" type fight scenes... except the Matrix because they were innovative.

Have you seen Equilibrium? Some people compare the fights in that to Matrix. While I like Equilibrium better I think they are completely different but the gunfights are incredible. Not as much kungfu as Matrix but there is some good hand to hand fighting and not as "over the top" as Matrix.

Jet Li in "Kiss of the Dragon". it takes place in France and has some of the most amazing fight scenes. they certianlt lean on the side of realsim as opposed to other martial art flicks. also Jackie Chan in his last Drunken Master movie. where at the end he gets drunk on "industrial alcohol" and goes crazy!! as for knife fighting check out the movie "the Hunted" with Tommy Lee Jones and Benecio Del Toro. its all based on Sayoc Kali and its sick.

Way of the dragon. If you can get a hold of the original uncut pagoda fights nothing compares. You really get to see the pros and cons of different styles. and the scene with kareem abdul jabbar awesome!! (they had to shoot in slow mo to make sure people could actually see their movements they were that fast)
Fist of legend is awesome. Shaolin temple. All the old Jackie Chan movies.

"Way of the Dragon", is awesome, but Kareem Abdul-Jabar was not in that movie, he was in the Game of Death. Chuck Norris was in "Way of the Dragon".

Which Way of Dragon do you have? The one hollywood did after Lee´s death is pathetic. Cutting together scenes, faking stuff etc... You need to watch the documentary called "Bruce Lee: A Warriors Journey", they show the original scenes from "The Game of Death", which were thought to be lost. Over 30 minutes of original footage..
