The Fight That Got You Into MMA?
I was just thinking, and I thought that I would make a thread about what fight/event really got you into MMA? This could go for Boxing and Kick Boxing to.
For me it was Anderson Silva vs. Chris Leben, before I watched this fight I wasn't really a big fan of MMA but i would watch it whenever it was on. But for this UFN i was sitting there when my brother flicked onto spike, and ive loved UFC and the rest of MMA ever since.

It wasn't a fight for me.. First thing I saw was Wanderlie Silva's Highlite reels.. It was way back in 2002-2003 when my cousin showed me the videos.. Wandy's knees got me here..

Ernesto Hoost vs Bobb Sapp. Before that I would just watch K1 if I saw it on. This was the first fight we specifically chose to watch. Everyone at the Gaijin house was hoping Hoost would win, and sort of disappointed Sapp won - mainly due to his bad acting. Luckily CC fixed that later.

first fight i think i ever truely watched on tv was matt hughes vs sean sherk, this was the fight that interested me in MMA, before i truely watched it i seen it as brutal no rules violence that i had no interest, after this fight i started to appreciate the more complex details of fighting.
the fight that maybe sealed the deal for me was griffen vs bonnar. i think this was a landmark moment for MMA, another fight that really stood out for me was ortiz vs shamrock 1. I had known about ortiz and i knew shamrock from WWF, id always wanted to see him fight. Ortiz for me really made this sport entertaining inj building hype and selling the sport.

I haven't been watching mma too long. First time I saw it I was bored, flipping through the channels on TV, when I thought I'd check out a show called "The Ultimate Fighter". It was season 2. I hadn't watched the show before since I hate reality shows, but I was really bored, so I checked it out.
I watched what I thought was an insane fight with Luke Cummo (and someone else who I forgot...either Anthony Torres or Sammy Morgan). I got so into the fight, and was hooked on mma since then. So it was actually Luke Cummo and TUF that got me into watching mma.

Back when I was boxing, some dudes at my gym were into BJJ and MMA. I would listen to them talk about it, and it got me curious. I rented UFC Tapout 2 for xbox, and that was kind of my first introduction to the sport (even though the game sucked). Then I rented the Mark Kerr documentary and the first couple of Ultimate Knockouts comps. Chuck vs Tito I was about a week away, and I got caught up in the hype for it. The day after it happened, I went into a local martial arts supply store and the guy behind the counter was watching the fight and replaying it for people who were coming in. That was pretty much it for me. I've never missed a UFC or Pride card since then, and these days I train at a great MMA gym a few nights a week. If I'm less fixated on what's going on in the sport at the moment, it's only because I'm too occupied with my own training.

When I was in highschool, my dad came home one night with a few movies on vhs he rented for all of us to watch. One of them was the new release "UFC", now called ufc 1 due to all the subsequent titles. Ive been watching this since it first came out and have been hooked on it.

Seems kind of silly now, but the first fight I ever saw and the one that got me hooked on MMA for life was watching a grainy, taped VHS copy of Keith Hackney against Emmanuel Yarbrough...

Same here as well, my friends dad had UFC 1 on VHS. We were a little young to watch it back then but we did anyways. I lost a little interest in it after that as I was too young to order PPV's and my straight shooter mother frowned on combat sports. My love for the sport rekindled when my brother in law introduced me to Pride about 6 years ago, I haven't missed a UFC or Pride PPV since.

For me it was strangely enough The Contender series. After i watched the first series i tried looking for the 2nd series on internet and i stumbled across TUF season 1. Since i was bored, i downloaded that and i was completely hooked. Since then i've bought a load of the DVDs and have seen all of the UFC and Pride events.
