Mmaweekly World Mma Rankings Updated 29th August
Quote:
The latest MMAWeekly World MMA Rankings were released on Wednesday, August 29. This system ranks the top ten MMA fighters from all across the world in each of the six largest weight classes, as voted on by MMAWeekly.
We take into consideration a fighter's performance in addition to his win-loss record, head-to-head and common opponents, difficulty of opponents, and numerous other factors in what is the most comprehensive rankings system in the sport.
As always, fighters who are currently serving drug-related suspensions are not eligible for top ten consideration.
Fighters must also have fought within the past 12 months in a weight class in order to be eligible for consideration. As such, Dan Henderson - who has not fought in the middleweight division since his loss to Kazuo Misaki on August 26, 2006 - is not currently eligible for consideration in the middleweight rankings.

another dose of opinion on who are the best mma fighters. I can't believe Gonzaga is up so high, but I could say that about Cro - Cop and others.

I disagree with this list on quite a few points but the LW rankings are ridiculous Joe Stevenson is ranked better then Penn? I could see them leaving Sherk off due to recent events but Penn deserves a spot on that list.

Yea, by now you know what's coming with their rankings. It's like the HW starts out great but then gets worse and worse the farther you go down.

Isn't that how rankings work?
j/k, i know what you mean. Randy should definitely be higher. What the hell does that guy have to do. Both Karo and Diego are better MMA fighters than Koshcheck but I understand why he's there. And Sean Sherk IMO would convincingly own every fighter in that LW division ranking. Maybe he's not on their cos of the steroid thing though, i don't know.

Decent rankings, Randy should not be higher and Matt Serra shouldn't be #1.

I've never taken MMA Weekly seriously, their rankings have always been F'ed up and very biased.

Ya he should.Firstly MMA weekly should be consistent with the way they rank. They should have the Champion at #1, or in the case of the heavyweights #2 because Fedor (like Matt Serra).I also agree that Serra shouldn't be that high. And secondly IMO Randy would own CroCop and maybe even Big Nog (though that is slightly less likely).
1.Fedor
2. Randy
3.CroCop
4.Barnett

By shear logic Randy SHOULD be higher. CC got KOed by GG, Randy dominated GG, therefore, Randy is should be ranked above CC.
I cant believe they put Matt Serra as the #1 ranked in the WW division, granted he his good, but did whoever did these rankings even watch UFC 74, GSP looked like man among boys.
I think they got drunk and threw darts at a board to come up with these rankings.

B.J should definately be up there in the LW rankings, Randy should be higher, and I agree that Matt Serra should be #1. I think that all the best WW fighters in the world are in the UFC and Serra has the belt so I think that justifies his ranking.(I am a huge GSP fan)
