Default Best Jiu-Jitsu oriented fighters

I found i'm going to start training at Gracie's Jiu-Jitsu school in Oak Grove, MS. What I was wondering was, who are the better Jiu-jitsu oriented fighters? I wanted to watch them and see if that could help me know some stuff.

You could do a lot worse than watching BJ Penn or Matt Serra.

I studied Japanese Jiu Jitsu for years and I really enjoy watching these guys as technicaly they are both superb.

Good luck with the training mate hope you enjoy it and get a lot out of it.

Have you trained in any other martial art?

I trained Jiu Jitsu alongside Kick Boxing and a classical Karate style called Wado Ryu. I found the different disciplines really complimented each other.

Hope it goes well for you

This is my first type of training in the arts. Is Rampage a jiu-jitsu oriented fighter? I just started watching the UFC.

Rampage is more of a wrestler/boxer style fighter than a BJJ fighter, though he does train BJJ as well. Antonio Rodrigo "Minotauro" Nogueira is a superb example of world-class BJJ in MMA. If you can get a video of him against Josh Barnett, I'd reccomend checking it out. It's a veritable ground game clinic, lotsa great sweeps and submission attempts. As previously stated, BJ Penn and Matt Serra are both great ground technicians. Check out some Kenny Florian fights too, he's shown some great sub victories. One of my favorite is Thiago Tavares. Nick and Nate Diaz are both stellar ground fighters. There's so many! Good luck with your training, keep us updated! BTW, who's the head instructor at your academy?

Very cool man, you're starting nice and young. In a few years you'll be a monster. You'll get more flexible the more you train, it'll happen naturally. There are stretches you can do, both static and dynamic, that will help you get there as well.
