Any "martial arts" left in MMA?
MMA has come along way from what it was in UFC 1 when the theme was style vs. style. Nowadays the sport seems dominated by boxing, wrestling, Muay Thai and BJJ. So my question is, where are the martial arts in Mixed Martial Arts?

If I understand your question correctly, then all those styles are Martial Arts by true definition as they all have to do with combat and defending yourself or to help lay a beat down on someone
Basically every form of combat is a "martial art" in the broad sense.

Well Judo, and Karate are pretty big still. A lot of the greats started out with Karate as little kids.

I think the one fighter that still uses his "martial arts" style of Shotokan perfectly into MMA fighting is Machida. He still keeps that deep Karate stance, still holds his hands like a karateka and is very effective thus far.
Other than him? I can't think of any and I'm sure there are a couple.

If you look at the picture of the Wanderlei Silva/Chuck Liddell fight there is one where you can see that Chuck is in a great karate stance. He has his hand chambered down at his waist with the palm facing up. I think that the fundamentals of what people consider martial arts is there but they have been modified and sped up to adapted for use in MMA. That unless the fights are slown down or captured in pictures you might not be able to see them while watching it live.

I agree... mixed-martial-arts fighters have to learn so much about every aspect of fighting - striking, "dirty boxing" (ie. in the clinch), takedowns, takedown defence, submissions, submission defence, ground and pound, octagon/ring control and positioning, cardio and conditioning.
You can't just belong to a martial art or some martial arts any more - traditional martial arts are very restricted in what you can and can't do and what you're taught.
MMA really has become it's own martial art as you take all the elements of fighting and combine them into one to make the perfect fighting style.

Yes, restrictive in MMA... if you come in with only karate then you only know how to strike - get taken down and you're like a deer caught in the headlights. The early, discipline vs. discipline UFC's showed that.
