Just thought I'd clear that up for you.

Fedor is supposed to be in a bloodsport sequal. Think he will take JCVD?

You show how very little you know about Bas's career right there. Bas has NO ground skills early on, and very little until after his second humiliating loss to Shamrock. Then he gets better and after a few more fights has very good ground skills.
So, by the way, the Karate, Tae Kwon Do, and Thai Boxing trained Bas Rutten did not have any ground skills to speak of early on. He got subbed by those three because he had absolutely no idea what was going on.

I don't know if Segal can take Randy he might not be able to hang with Van Damme-age.

I said that Bas in his Prime, Fedor now, and Sakuraba in 2000 (his prime in my opinion), could all beat Rickson. Rickson is good beat really only one style. All of the above fighters I mentioned are great at everything. They probably couldn't beat Rickson on the ground, except Fedor, but they could beat him.
I actually think Bas could have killed him in his (Bas') prime. Bas did call him out and Rickson didn't answer Bas request.
Oh, and Fedor could take anybody. He beat a bear for God's sake!

So when you said "even in HIS prime".. and didnīt follow up with "in THEIR prime" I assumed you meant only Rickson. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
About Bas killing Rickson.. naaaaaa.

I really like grappling, so after most of you denied Rickson, my next suggestion is Gokor. What about him?

mh.. you gotta a point there.. but when I said he always had ground skills I was probably thinking about his last 25 fights, also I didnīt say he always had "excellent" ground skill, just ground skills..but I guess you blew that bubble. I must admit Pancrase is the one competition I never watched in the early 90īs, obviously that was the time when he sucked on the ground.

with all this discussion about Rickson Gracie and his myth maybe the thread should have been titled "best fighter ever in sanctioned Competition"? Rickson is clearly a master of BJJ and an amazing fighter but i would have to guess that most of Rickson's fights are streetfights of challenges outside of sanctioned competition. alot of us have probably seen Rickson fight Hugo Duarte out on the beach in Brazil, not exactly official.

I would bet on Fedor against anyone in their prime. If it was Fedor vs Superman on roids I would put money on fedor. I believe that that would fit the definition of best fighter ever all others can really only hope for second place.
And Danny, Fedor has beaten several bears. Steven Colbert would be proud.

Royce was the man at one point, he did turn the early UFC events upside down. of course things change and Royce faded away as guys like Vitor Belfort, Don Frye and MArk Coleman came to be, now we have Fedor but i am sure that eventually someone will come along who is better.

I'll believe it when it happens... unfortunately for all of his, I doubt we'll see it. Not anytime soon anyways.
