Lets throw Randy Couture in there. He certainly deserves to be mentioned with the rest of the best.

Segal would hand VanDamme's ass to him on a platter. So would most of the other great hollywood martial artists.

I think AA would make for a good fight, but I just don't see him beating Fedor. Look at Fedor's victim list and then compare it to AA's victim list. Fedor's is full of legends and AA's is full of "who's that?"

Van Damme is an actor. Show me something where he was a kickboxer.

Segal would still hand it to him. Vandamme only knows one or two kicks...easy.

Van Damme is probably the better actor, but Segal is the better fighter.. whoever made that post about Segal being fat and Van Damme being a kickboxer so what? Segal is like a 7th degree master in Aikido. It´s ridiculous to compare a master in Aikido who wouldn´t let Van Damme even touch him without breaking his arms first, to some Ballerina who won a few Kickbox tournaments.
However he is a terrible actor and needs to cool it, trying to play the master of masters in his movies.. the last one called "Today you Die" was pathetic.. Segal tried to play like he is from the hood, talking like a gangsta from the hood and acting like a rapper.. it was hilarious.
Van Damme on the other side has made some classics like Bloodsport.. high on his cocaine addiction he made "Knock off" which was actually one of his better movies.. but has never really shown any screen talent himself either. Bloodsport remains a classic though and "The Quest" was also not bad.

I agree 100% with SJ. Van Damme is a much better actor than Seagal, but I'd give the fighting advantage to Seagal. Heck, Van Damme was KO'd in a straight up fight against a 45 year old Chuck Zito (bodyguard, actor) in Score's parking lot in NYC in 1999. VD was 12-1 in kickboxing and refused a straight challenge by Don Wilson to prove his ability for all his early claims of championships. Seagal's skills would be much more effective in a MMA fight.
Lord, how did this thread's topic turn to this?

You guys are overestimating Aikido, it's near worthless in real situations.
Secondly, Zito did not KO Van Damme, he floored him, big difference - and he suckerpunched a drunk Van Damme while the guy was taking off his glasses. Then you include the size difference, the fact Zito was an amatuer boxer, and a blackbelt in karate and you understand why it's not really proof for anything. Getting suckerpunched while drunk by someone who can throw... and you're going to get knocked down or out.

Aikido's near worthless in real situations? What rock did you crawl out from under? LOL. And, about Van Damme...if he's such a master shouldn't he have known enough to avoid a situation where he's going to get "suckerpunched?" Out of all the Hollywood Martial artists he'd finish near last in competition.
