That is what I was arguing.
I think those other guys are "ok," but they're not greats...Trigg and BJ are great welters. I'm not as easily impressed with what I consider to be a great fighter, then I guess, as you are. Furthermore, I stated in my first statement that GSP was a great fighter. How is that not giving him respect? Man, I don't know how else to acknowledge someone is a great fighter, when I come right out and say it. My whole point with his competiton is that that guy was calling him the "greatest," but he's only fought 3 great WW's. Trigg, BJ and the loss to Hughes. And, to consider him the "greatest" after just those fights when you have guys like Fedor, Nog and Cro Cop who have stat sheets a mile long...is a little far fetched. Let's not get off on tangents, but remember the main argument and digest comments for what they really are and what context they are being used in. The debate's about who the greatest is, not whether or not GSP has fought anybody.

IMO, one of the best fights ever in modern MMA?

Tyson Griffin vs Clay Guida

Displayed all aspects of MMA, and very sharp technique in all aspects by both fighters.

Only round 3 I could find, but nonetheless, and awesome fight worthy of best fight status

don't know how possibly anybody could say matt hughes. i think he was a great fighter, but the title says "best" fighter ever, not the most dominant. if it said most dominant i could see a massive argument for matt hughes, however there is no way he is the best ever, his standup is awful and he has been dominated by gsp twuce, which i don't think has anything to do with hughes going downhill, just that modern fighters are evolving past him. same principle for royce.
i would have to say fedor until proven otherwise, bas isn't a bas shout either. i personally think if we have this debate in 5 years gsp will be the undisputed best fighter ever

If Anderson silva keeps going the way he is he could easily have his name thrown in this arguement.

first of all intenz u shud look how long ago that post was before u start acting like a tough guy! Andrei Arlovski has not been a factor recently to even consider him. Besides Randy Couture clearly stands out to me as the best fighter at the moment only to be taken over by bj penn. After he goes up again and ends all the talk about george st pierre (whose def one of the best fighters) i believe the mind set penns in now will make him a force in the future and many mor ebig names will fall to him, also anderson silva could easily be considered because he has cleared out the division with only maybe bisping left who is not much of a threat. Silva should try moving up or going outside th eoranization for more competition to show how truely superior his skills are.

I agree Silva is definately one of the best pound for pound fighter currently although he has a couple of losses to not so great fighters in the past, recently he was unstoppable and made Franklin look like a amatuer twice

Then again, I am on a straight kickboxing/muay thai streak lately and even more biased towards 'the double Dutch duo' of Rob Kaman/Ramon Dekkers.

Hmmm...not just "on the road"....he's paving it and setting the new standards by which subsequent fighters for quite awhile will be measured by.

gsp

I'd have to echo the voice of those saying GSP. The guy is awesome and he is just getting better and better. I also rank Anderson Silva very highly.

I think the fighter that by far makes the best case right now is Fedor. Anderson Silva if he keeps on winning will be a good choice also. GSP needs to get a good streak going and another win against a game BJ. His fight against Serra really set him back.
