Default Best fighter ever?

I don't know who to pick, but I think in his prime, Bas Rutten was the freaking man. Who do you guys think should be labeled that?

I made a thread very similar to this one a while back asking if Fedor was the best ever and if not who could have possibly beat him. the only ole timer i could think of that had a shot at beating him was Bas.

Fedor destroys everyone he fights, no matter what their size or specialty. he has never gassed, been choked out or KOed, only stopped by a cut. if that were not in a tourny it would have been a no contest. hes has fought the best competition possible as well.

In my opinion Fedor is the best ever. i may say that Big Nog is the second best ever. his boxing is second to none in MMA, i shouldnt have to mention his grappling. Id have to put Bas at a close third.

Fedor fits the the definition of best ever. He has been so dominate in one of the most stacked devisions in any sport and has yet to be really beaten. Bas comes to mind as a second also.

Honerable mentions to Hughes, Gomi, and Penn.

best EVER??? fedor has more work to do.... longevity is key, guys like tyson dominated for years and years... royce pioneered the sport. beyond them id look at fedor and hughes... they also need a main rival, like ali frazier to push them to greatness.... i believe hughes will have gsp and even penn for that matter.

Fedor has been dominating for years now. And as for rival I think that big nog would qualify. They have had 2 and a half fights now and might even have another. If it wasn't for Fedor and Henderson (and maybe even with henderson) we would probably be wondering if he was the best ever right now.

Hughes is def one of the greatest but his stand-up is a little lacking.

he also fights people his size or smaller. Fedor fights people much taller and much heavier, Royce has done the same, along with Big Nog. thats the main reason for me leaving Hughes out of the top 3.

Fedor has more work to do? The guys has dominated all of the best in the world...so, how does he have more work to do? I am pretty sure that this in reference to mma fighters, but for the sake of argument....Tyson dominated for years and years? Dude was on top of boxing for four years, beating up on guys who barely had a lick of ability or guys who were all way past their prime. If you're going to pick to reference a boxer, reference somebody good. Like Ali, Louis, Mariciano, or Dempsey...not Tyson. Anyrate, back to the real thread, Fedor is the best mma fighter to date, even Bas has referenced him as that. The man has beat all the greats. What more's he gotta do?

Fedor hands down. the man has proven he can beat any fighter no matter what thier size, skill level or style. he dominated Big Nog twice and did the same to Mirko Crocop. he crushed Heath Herring and Semmy Shilt. he survived a near KO by Fujita to win and was'nt fazed by the Suplex Randle executed against him. he is a Sambo world champion for years on end as well. Fedor will be the fighter all future fighters are compared to. it should also be mentioned that Fedor is easily one of the smallest HWs in Pride.

Some people might think I am crazy but I'm gonna say Sakuraba. If he had been in the UFC he would have broken the "MW curse" years ago and still be holding the belt. Also if Pride would have started their WW division long ago he would have won that and still be holding it today.

But Fedor takes the title of best ever hands down. Royce was great in his time but Fedor has taken it because he is taking out world class athletes. Not just guys who are only bigger and stronger than him.

i would like to throw in Igor Vovchanchen as well, while not the best ever he certainly fought enough and everybody. i think he is in Pride 3-9, 11 and numerous Pride events after that. he is easily one of the toughest fighters ever. even after CroCop kicked his head off he was up and off the mat. most guys just lay there and need to be helped up.

AA beat Fedor? I don't think so. Fedor is just one of those fighters that you just don't want to bet against. AA only chance would be a quick knockout, but Fedor has shown that he can take a hard punch and still win.

everyone has to progress though... AA is early in that progression and has been very very impressive. while he is prolly not ready for fedor right now, a year or so down the road there is no way to say he wouldnt have the tools to do so...

Fedor has to be called the best 23-1 and his 1 loss was by a cut.

I think Rich Franklin should also be in the discussion as well as Matt Hughes. 1 mistake against Hughes and he can finish you(Just ask GSP left his arm out there...BAM..armbar and it was over!)
