best match that will never happen
i am thinking that the best match that will never happen is Rickson Gracie vs. Sakuraba. Rickson has an incredible reputation that is both proven and unproven and we all know about Sakuraba.

I think the best match that will never happen is Couture vs Silva. In your match up I think that Sakuraba would beat him standing and do what he did to Royce in the 2000 GP.

If anybody could beat Fedor, Bas could have been the man to do it.

Watch his Pancrase fights later in his career. Bas was the heavyweight champion of the world if you think about it. I don't think anybody in the UFC at that time could have really beat him.

i think Big Nogs striking and size would be to much for Rickson......to me they are even on the ground. at least close enough that it wouldnt be an advantage for Rickson.

Nog is a master BJJ fighter.. so is Rickson. I would even say Ricksonīs BJJ is better. It will never happen, so we canīt really call it, but one thing is for sure, Rickson wouldnīt just stand there eating Nogīs hands, as far as size..Rickson has never had trouble beating people bigger than him. All of his MMA fights were without weightlimits.
This is a fight I would love to have seen, just from the BJJ perspective.

i dont doubt ricksons BJJ but in an MMA event he would get beat down by Big Nog. the size factor is only relevant because of the otherwise equal grappling ability.
Who has Rickson beat that was so big? or worth a crap for that matter?

How about rematch Bas vs. Ken Shamrock today. That'd be interesting.

I donīt think he would get beat down at all, he fought in MMA Vale Tudoīs with no size limits and beat opponents which overweighed him by 50-70lbs. Iīm not saying he would win "for sure".. this is the difference between me and you. While I give credit to both fighters and say it would be a good fight, you assume Nog would beat him down, this is pure assumption on your part, since you already "equaled" their grappling skills, so whatīs left? Striking? Nog has never knocked anybody out in a fight except Sanae Kikuta. Rickson would not need to fear his striking, actually he would shut it down, it would go to the ground.. and Rickson is the last person on earth to be on the ground with. So it comes back to who is a better grappler, BJJ fighter... and they are both great BJJ fighters. So it would be a great BJJ fight, simple.
I canīt believe that there always has to be a debate, when the name Rickson Gracie mentioned.

i never said Nog would Ko him, so how is he gonna magically defeat Nogs excellent boxing skills? you just made an assumption yourself. i ask again who has Rickson beat that is so great? Danny says Funaki or whatever i dont know him so ill take his word. he could of beat up a bunch sixth graders, but i guess we have to make assumptions about that as well.

Look up Funaki dude. He's awesome and in my opinion, the biggest Pancrase Japanese legend.

so how many times you gonna ask who rickson beat that is so great if the question was already answered? Judging by the way you speak of him, i donīt think you ever seen him fight.

Funaki is a Pancrase Legend and he is now doing movies. i believe he is also one of the men to take Ken Shamrock under his wing and teach him how to be a total fighter. However, i just saw him get his rear end handed to him by Bas Rutten. it was thier second fight and Bas gave him a brutal beating. nice bonus in Bas's Big DVD's of Combat.
