No Wisdom Teeth = Easy KO ?
This is something that just popped in my head the other day, I was wondering if having your wisdom teeth would make you harder to K.O. since the empty space in your mouth would be filled making your jaw a bit stiffer and letting the impact spread across more of your teeth, I kind of thought maybe it would reduce the amount of side to side movement your jaw would have if you had 4 more teeth in your mouth.
Does anyone know of a connection between fighters having there wisdom teeth and being hard to K.O. and the other way around is there anyone known to be easy to K.O. and they don’t have them.
It was just a thought but it might be something to look into.....

thats an odd thought. i personally don't think it would make a differance. its probable that alot of fighters have had thier wisdom teeth removed. of course thats not a stat listed on a fighters bio. a knockout from being hit on the jaw is caused when the nerve in the area where your jaw connects to your skull is compressed. it causes a quick knock out on most people if the strike was clean on the "button" of your chin. to answer your question though, having 4 extra teeth at the very back at your mouth is'nt going to keep your jaw stable enough to prevent you from being knocked out.

Yeah I didn't really think it would make much a difference but I just wondered if there was a connection between that and KOs

if you think about it everyone wears a mouthpiece anyway. the notion of your teeth clenching to prevent on knockout scares me. a strong neck on the other hand can increase your ability to withstand being knocked out.

Re:
In my opinion, it doesn't matter. I've had mine pulled, and I've deffinitly taken some hard shots, and haven't been KO'd.

I think it has some kind of an effect. It has to really, four more teeth in the back of your mouth would make your jaw more stable. And it would take more of the shock away from the punch. I don't think it would have a huge impact on taking a shot, but i'm sure it is different in one way or another.

i think wisdom teeth make be worse when i really think about it. i know very few people who've had thier's come in straight. so unless you have perfect dental structure maybe it's best to leave the wisdom teeth at your next dental appointment.
