Dominance of Brazilian fighters?
From Marco Ruas' Ruas Vale Tudo to Brazilian Top Team and Chute Boxe today, and of course the Gracie family.. Brazilian fighters have always been on the top of the game. What do you think the secret is?
(aside from dedication and hard work, that is)

Gravity is always in their corner. I belive it is easier to learn defense and submissions on the ground that effective striking, esp. from guard.

I don´t know what their secret is, but they have been perfecting BJJ since almost 100 years now. But people are catching on.. you will not see as many Brazilians dominating in the future as you see now.

i think the secret is little more than economics. in Brazil fighting is an acceptable option to getting ahead. fighting is socially acceptable and alot of people who would otherwise be toilet cleaners see fighting as the way to a future.

I think in that part of the world it's kind of a way of life, for a lot of people. I have 4 friends from Venezuela, and they live, breathe, and sleep their martial arts. Their Karate, for example, is just harder core ol' school than ours. It's part of their lives. They are much more disciplined with their training for the most part too.

this is true of Braziliians as well. i know many who come to the USA to clean floors. the majority of them all practice BJJ. you say the name Gracie and they smile even though most don't speak english very well.
