Putting an end to Pride vs UFC debates. PLEASE READ! - Fight Forum - MMA - UFC - Boxing - K1

In an effort to end the constant PRIDE vs UFC arguments that have been ruining many threads, we are no longer permitting Pride/UFC comparisons in either forum.

One of the great things that has existed at FightForum since its inception was the ability to discuss the happenings of MMA in an intelligent manner. One thing that plagues all the MMA forums is the ongoing Pride vs. UFC debate. While we are all fans of MMA, it is only natural to favor one organization over another for a number of reasons. The arguments become passionate and ultimately threads become pissing matches, ruining good debate and info. With the recent quality events put on by both promotions, the arguments have gotten louder and yet more redundant.

Thus we are asking that it stops here. Absolutely no Pride vs UFC comparisons will be allowed in the Pride or UFC forums period. We are getting tired of 1) People bashing organizations. And 2) People getting overly defensive when anything negative is said about their organization.

As a solution, feel free to carry on the Pride vs UFC debate in either "The Arena (if intelligent and does not create arguments)" or in the "Street Fight" if all you are doing is simply bashing. This way, the arguments will be more contained and not ruin thread after thread. Also, if a thread is started that will do nothing but incite Pride vs UFC argument, it will be moved. If a post is made in a thread for the express reason of inciting this argument, it will be deleted.

We feel we have a great community here and are trying to curtail the Pride vs UFC argument from dragging the conversation down on most of the site.

pretty drastic but its for the best. im sick of looking at it.

guile btw, is there anyway you can give me like a big virtual stick authority so i can batter members who are idiots into unconciousness? i think it would make for a cleaner and better way to run fight forum... ok then.. not into unconciousness but some way to show they are a marked man.

It's a shame, as the thread that was just closed was a great one, but it's for the best. What you said is 100% right. It was only a matter of time before that thread ended up like the rest. As moderators you need to make judgement calls, and anyone who has been around here for a while will fully understand why this decision was made. We appreciate the effort you guys go through to make sure this forum does not degenerate the way most of the others have.

Trust me when I tell you, this was not something we wanted to do, rather it seemed it was something that had to be done. The bickering was getting downright ridiculous.

thank you, I seriously havent looked at a thread past the first 3 posts in weeks because of this bulljive, it was really getting absurd in the forums

Krav, its outlined in the first post. The debate can continue, but not in the UFC or Pride forums. It stays in the Arena if it civil and in the Street Fight if its antagonistic.

In other words, signings can be talked about in any forum, but not if its merely to bash the organization that lost the fighter. If its that, go to the Street Fight.

I actually liked the debates because it brought up some of the most interesting topics (albeit along with drama) about the rivalry between the two organizations. It's a bummer that people had to make it personal, as I enjoyed some of the more insightful and constructive comments of many of our members.

Now that this topic is off limits, can we start a bunch of "Why PRIDE/UFC Think That EliteXC Sucks" threads?

Jet Li's "Fearless" is a great and poetic film about the detrimental effects of compartmentalizing disciplines of martial arts and the hubris which grows from this. How well does the pure striker do in a competition? Embracing all aspects--and all federations (called so in the film) is the right approach.
