Im a sox fan too but i would definitly say this situation is much worse. going 18-0 and expected to win and losing like that, to me is much worse. Im a die hard Pats, while i enjoy the Sox, would trade 2 world series for another Lombardi Trophy.

Patriots Football 2008-09 Be Ready
I'm ready to see an aging LB core get older and the potential loss of a star CB who may be worth more then the Patriots can afford...but the Patriots do have the #7 overall pick...

If they rehash the Defense they will at least be as good as they were this year.

You know that almost every major sports outlet both radio and TV are saying that the David Tyree catch is the best moment in SPORTS HISTORY????

Tiki can run some charities and that's great. He shouldve STFU more.

He'd be more regarded. But Tiki is about Tiki, not a team.
Calm down there champ. I'm with you on the whole Tiki stuff. I'm happy for you as a Giants fan that they won. BUT let's not get ahead of ourselves on the whole sports history thing. That catch is not even in the top 100.

There have been some spectacular catches, but number one in my book is from Alabama receiver. I think 2006 season.

We've all seen it, but it is too damn good.

The Tyree catch will be replayed for years to come and it will go down as ONE of the THE BEST catches of all time. Yes, it will. SI had an article titled "Memories are made of these; Giants-Pats takes place among best Super Bowls ever" and the article singled out Tyree: "...like David Tyree, a fourth receiver, a special teamer, making one of the great catches in the history of the Super Bowl." SI also listed SB-XLII as the Number One Super Bowl of all time. MSNBC had an article titled "This was greatest Super Bowl of all-time; Former whipping boys Eli, Coughlin shock Brady, Belichick, juggernaut Pats." The first thing the article talked about was that the catch by David Tyree was the greatest in Super Bowl history.

Forgive me my Fight Forum friends. All the instigatory st atements I made was 24 hours after the win, so i was still rather high.

I'm perfectly logical now and am still happy, but reality has said in.

That Giants made history. One of the most inconsistent teams in The NFL pulled one of the massive upsets ever in sports by destroying at every angle the undefeated NE Patriots.

That Tyree catch was insane, improbable, lucky, talented, and just a player who was in the right place in the right time. RE-watching the Superbowl though, I realize that Tyree also caught another pass in the game for a TD, so Tyree was apparently one of the Giants "Tricks" to throw off the NE Defense.

Face it, as sub said, Tyree is a 4th option reciever, special teams guy usually just used as a decoy.

Only Sunday, Tryee was used as a weapon. They confused the Defense with mixing up going to Boss (a rookie), Buress (our only threat down field), Toomer (our only threat in mid field/sidelines), etc.

You can't single out one reciever that made ALL the plays. Youc an single out recievers that made THE plays though if you know what I'm saying.

Tyrees catch on 3rd and whatever? was THE play that got the Gmen in place to score the GW TD to Burress.

Best ever in sports? That's just what I heard some analysts say. I dont looking back necessarily agree. I think it goes down as at least a top 10 in history and def a top 5 in NFL/Sports history.

What makes me the happiest, isnt that the Giants won and beat up the Boston NE Patriots. What makes methe happiest is that the Giants won this as a total team unit. On defense, on offense, on special teams? These guys all played together the best football of the year on one day for the whole thing. There wasn't one defensive player that made a play. ALL of them TOGETHER made plays. Same with the Offense.

And who's the leader of a TEAM? The QB! So for Eli to win the MVP? Was just deserving because he is the leader that makes that team play and win

TOGETHER!

I still have tears and that's the real reason I'm just so damn proud of the Giants.

Anyone who thinks the Pats next year wont be as dominate has something wrong with them. If they won the superbowl, everyone would be sitting here saying whos gonna beat them next year. Now that they lost its like they have are a bad team now. They need to upgrade the Defense with some speed at LB. But they usually develop yopung talent on Defense. The offense will be just fine, Moss will be resigned. Gaffney wil replace Stallworth. The D Line is all set, whether Bruschi, Seau or Harrison retire will affect the team, they will sign some free agents and use some picms on those positions. They also have the easiest strength of schedule next year playin the AFC and NFC west. they wont be undefeated, but probably go 14-2 and win the Superbowl because its been three seasons and thats tooo long a wait for me.

I don’t doubt they will be a good team...of course they will...but they won't be as dominant and you allude to that in your very post saying they won't be perfect...do you really think they will match all the records they made this year?...I doubt it...but they will, of course, be a fierce contender...just not as dominant…

ON the flip side, I can tell you the Giants will have a hard season next year.

Sure, with their D, they can always be competitive, but the NFC East is so strong and likely will be even better next year.

Many questions are up. Will Dallas be as dominant as they were last season, will MCNabb and the Eagles be a factor, will The Redskins still continue to improve and blow up next season.

The worst thing that can happen to a Superbowl Champion is be one that nobody expected you to be. This gives teams that are under the radar/borderline decent a sense that they want to follow suit.

I sometimes think that the Giants could be the second coming of the St. Louis Rams in their run of the late 90s, early 2000's.

I also sometimes think, the Giants could follow in the footsteps of the Steelers. A good team that pulled it off, then dropped off dramatically the last few seasons and just barely a playoff team.

It'll be interesting to see what NY Giants football team we'll seee next year. Maybe a confident team with some new big named free agents that can add to their arsenal? The last rumor I heard was that Ray Lewis is very interested in maybe coming on with the Giants.

We'll see. That's the fun in sports.

Not to pick what you said apart, but they won't be as dominate if they go 14-2. They went undefeated. One loss in the regular season means they won't be as dominate. The nice thing in the NFL is the quick turnarounds of teams from good to bad and vice versa. History is against them since almost every team that loses the Super Bowl goes on to have subpar seasons especially recently. You never know, Brady could break his leg in the preseason and say good bye playoffs. Gaffney is a scrub btw.

Yeah he's good when you can keep him in that #4 role, but if they lose Moss or Stallworth(or both) he'll have to move up in the depth chart.

Yeah, I had to watch him for 3 years as the #2 receiver. It is the law of diminishing returns with him. Good for a little bit, not so good for alot.
