The only way Germany is going to lose, is if they donīt take the match serious and try to let a few good players rest. They have already made it to the next round, but just for you, I am going to call the "Kaiser" and tell him to prepare the team for a serious beat down on Ecuador.
HEHEHE.

As for the actual game, it wasn't bad at all. The intensity between both teams was awesome, and the game was really entertaining.
As for the referee, that may have been the worst as you said.
It wasn't necessarily the bad calls that pissed me off, it was the inconsistency and unsurety. He really didn't act like he stood by his decisions, which led to the make-up call on Mastroeni. That was a yellow card for sure. It was a little rough, but it hasn't been called a red card for other teams and players.
I don't disagree with the call on Pope though.
That being said, the referee screwed over Italy a few times too, so what goes around comes around I guess. It was just too inconsistent for me.
But man, that atmosphere was great!! I was disappointed with a tie, but hopefully we can beat Ghana cleanly and have Italy beat a beat-up Czech Republic. Then we will be moving on.
It was a good game, until the US team was down to nine players. That is what had me so darn angry. It seemed to me that even the Italian fans were booing that referee when he red-carded when he ought to have yellow-carded. Italian soccer fans do not want a win based on bad calls. They take great pride in a skill-based win, especially over the US team. It really means a lot to them. The entire country stopped what it was doing during that game, according to some of my friends there. I have also lived in Italy for four years -- they are serious about soccer!
What made me mad was that the Mastroeni red-card, IIRC, took out our best player, and left the US with nine players. No World Cup team has ever scored with only nine players. I think the only exception was when the other team also had nine or less players, which has happened only once before. I'm not totally up on soccer history, but I think that was one of the stat graphics that popped up when I was watching.
If that was the worst game youīve ever seen, then you must not have seen many games.
I only watch the World Cup, which means every four years. I was just mad at the moment that I posted because no one wants to lose a game to the referee. That game was going well for the US. We did not have very many (if any) offside calls, while Italy had like 10 or 15. The US had dominated the time of possession by something like 58% before we lost two players to that red-card happy referee. The referee had called like 20 fouls on the US and only about five or seven fouls on the Italian team. One red card for Italy and two for the US. Late tackles are supposed to be yellow carded... And, maybe a follow up warning.
U.S.A surprised me how well they have played this world cup. but i dont think we have seen the best out of some of the teams like england, brazil, france

Well, they didnīt lose, so itīs all gravy my friend. Will they make it to the next round? Only if Italy beats or drawīs with the Czechīs and the US beats Ghana. In any case, the US needs a win over Ghana.

i know but they got all that betting/match fixing hanging over them so dont think they will even get throu the second round if they get there
That scandal had nothing to do with the Italian National Team. The fixings happened in the Club League. You canīt compare Club Leagues to National Teams, thatīs like judging Spain based on Real Madrid, although the team is filled with players from Portugal, England and Brazil.

yeah that is true but it involves the coach the goal keeper and several of the players club teams so they have all been questioned and due to the wonderfull world of the media the pressure is on them all
I'm definitely pulling for Italy to win one now. If the US can beat Ghana and have Italy beat the Czech Republic, we will be on our way the knockout round. We will probably have the fun time of playing Brazil, but that's ok. If we get out of group play, I'll be happy.
Germany definitely looks for real right now. They will have a tough one against Sweden, but I definitely think they will be moving on to the final eight. It's a good story too. I love to see the home country play great.
I TiVoed a couple matches today and watched them when I got home from work. I watched Paraguay beat Mexico, and I watched Argentina tie with Netherlands. I really should have skipped that one because they didn't play so many key players. It was still ok though.
Tomorrow is the big day for us Americans! I'm pretty nervous about playing Ghana. I'm really not worried about Italy and the Czechs because we have to beat Ghana first to make all else possible. Ghana isn't a joke, and I hope the US knows that going in.
That being said, I'm playing the positive role tonight. The US will beat Ghana 2-0, and Italy will beat the Czech Republic 2-1. Here's hoping eh?
England keep on winning... somehow. They are so right that we haven't seen the best from them yet, in fact, I'm hoping what I'm seeing is the worst they'll play. In the end a win is a win and the best is yet to come... or so they say. In any case, go England!
