I'll have to go with the good'ol USA. Actually if they win their group(no small task with Italy and the Czech Republic in our group) and avoid playing Brazil in the next round we might have a chance!

Nah, we wont get past the semis and if we can get that far, that's a damn acomplishment.

I filled out a bracket the other day and my final four was USA and Argentina on the left, and Brazil and England on the right. I kow Brazil will win the damn thing, but I wanted one major upset so I had England edging them out. Argentina will beat the US and we will have England vs Argentina in the finals. They played earlier this year and England destroyed them so I have England winning the whole thing.

Itīs gonna be very hard for the USA to get past Italy and Czech Republic. Italy is 3x World Cup winner, and almost always in the semiīs. Czechīs are also a very strong team.

The world cup is always revolving around 4-5 teams. Italy, Germany, Argentina, Spain and of course Brazil. If i had to pick, I would say Italy vs Brazil in the finals. Germany might pull it off also, since they got home advantage, but they have sucked in the last few games. Brazil will walk away with the World Cup again, for the unprecedented 5th time.

Mexico, France, Croatia and Holland are also very strong teams.

I've been trying to find a site which gives the likely players in each squad but can't find this. Once I know who's playing for each team and injury updates then I will have a much better idea.

I think Italy will be out in the 1st round, in the FIFA world rankings Czech Republic(2nd) and USA(4th) are above Italy, who is now 14th! But if we lose to Italy....then it will be us on the outside!

I'm just deciding how many points to put on the USA but I gotta go with the home country!

If you guys want to know who is going to play in the World Cup for each team, go to this site http://www.fussball-wm-total.de/weltrang.html

Itīs in German, but I guess you guys could use google translate or altavista babelfish. Just click on the names of the countries and you will get all the info you need.

By the way, forget the FIFA world Rankings, in the World Cup things always go the other way, anybody in the Top 20 of that list is able to advance to the second round.

That would be awesome, but I have my doubts. Italy is strong, forget what the FIFA says, the last time the didnīt make it to the 2nd round was in 1974.

The bookies see it the same way, USA is 40-1, Czech 25-1, whereas Italy is 9-1.

Ever since I was little I have always rooted for the USA, since they never got too far, I have always gone with Italy. Which is the team that I would always use when it came to video games, and betting against friends. Now that the USA is up there with the best, it is of course my luck that they are placed in the same group with my other favorite team Italy. I was worried for the US when this happened, but now that Totti is injured I think that the USA has a really good chance at being #1 in their group. Italy will come in second, go on to beat Brazil, but lose to England. The final will be USA vs England with the USA winning it all!!!

I hate to break it to you, but Totti is not injured anymore. Vieri will not be playing, but Totti is healed. About the USA winning the World Cup, that is really wishful thinking, not that I am against it, but they are just not that good. Itīs okay though, United States dominates in many other sports, it just ainīt soccer.

Brazil might or might not be beat by Italy, nobodies knows, but England has a major setback with Rooney not playing. Besides you are basing these wins on IF these teams make the first and second place of their groups. We still donīt know who will meet who in the Quarter-Finals. England has never won a World Cup except in the 60īs and has managed not qualified 3 times since 1974, including 1994 in the USA. England has good players, but they have been cursed in the World Cup. Plus you have counted out Argentina, Netherlands ( another cursed team), Mexico, Spain and France. Spain actually has never done good in the World Cup, which is very suprising, since they got top notch players, most of them are international Stars..

Any of these teams could win it all, Germany will probably not make it past the 2nd round or get stoped in the Quarter Finals.

Thanks for letting me know about Totti, but see I believe that the world is underestimating the USA when it comes to soccer, we shocked the world in 2002 and will go further this time around. I admit it is a longshot, saying that they will win it all, but one can always hope right.

Yeah, but only 2 months ago the States lost 4-1 against Germany and the game against Jamaica wasnīt better 1-1 against a nobody. Tony Meola by the way wonīt be playing either, so this means they will have to rely on a younger, less experienced player. Frankie Hejduk is also hurt and wonīt be playing. We will see how that goes . 2002 wasnīt shocking at all, they made it to the quarter finals, preety good, but heck look at Turkey, they even made it to the Semiīs and South Korea also. It was the year of the underdogs. Another thing is in 02, they got whooped by Poland 3-1 and tied with South Korea. Had Poland not lost to Portugal, or Portugal to South Korea..USA would have been out. They only had 4 points,Poland and Portugal had 3.

Kasey Keller is really good in goal, Meola never had a realistic chance of making the team, he got thrown a bone so he could get his 100th CAP in the USA's last game.

Well you're right about the last few games, and with Hejduk out it will be tuff, but I think we will do good, I believe that USA and Italy will be the ones to advance in our group. Italy, like I said, is one of my favorite teams, but it seems to me like the refs have something against the italians, is it just me or do you notice that too? This is why they won't go too far I believe. Arena is a great coach and I think that he will have the perfect strategies to beat Ghana, C. Rep., and Italy. Then we will see from there.
