Going with the underdogs. That and I freakin hate the Tigers. With the Cards pitching staff finally deciding to pitch how they have been capable of I think they can pull it off.
Did you see the game last night? Kenny should have been ejected from that game without question. I can't believe LaRussa didn't raise hell about that crap.

The Gambler was dealing last night though. That whole crap on his hand was a bizarre situation.
BTW have you noticed that Pujols always seems to dismiss pitchers that shut the Cards down. The pitcher for the Padres, Young I think, totally dominated the Cards in a game in the NLDS and Pujols says his stuff wasn't that good. Really, he struck you out twice! Then Glavine shuts them down in the second game of the NLCS (I think) and he says his stuff wasn't that good. I don't know, Pujols just annoys the hell out of me. Probably cause the moonshot he hit against Lidge in the NLCS last year still is orbiting the Earth.
I'm a major Mets fan (and I was one win away from my mid-season pick of a Tigers-Mets world series coming true), but I find it hard not to like this Tigers team. I hope Pudge can step up and produce a little, because he's been one of my favourite players in the game for years.
I had a feeling Detroit would lose game one. Lots of people saw their week long rest as an advantage, but I saw it as a loss of momentum, whereas the Cards came to Comerica feeling hot about their NL pennant.
But now that Detroit's warmed up again, look out. They have all the markings of a team of destiny. Detroit in six, maybe even five (wish I knew this pool existed before it was too late).

I put 500 points on 9:1 odds for the Tigers to win the world series before the playoffs in baseball. I totally agree with the team of destiny talk. They were the best team in baseball before they melted down right before the playoffs. Of course, I hate to see a national league team lose yet again. At least it is the Cards. I can enjoy that.

I am positive Rogers had something on his hand. So it made it a little easier to deal. That was some really shady crap that went on that luckily for the Tigers he got away with. I'm pretty sure it was pine tar because you could still see some discoloration after he wiped of the "dirt" and also after the game he said that no one asked him to wipe it off but the umpire did another conference where he said he did tell Kenny to clean his hand off. That is bs man. The rules say the player is to be ejected and suspended when a foreign substance is on the hand.
I know what you mean about Pujols though. But another thing you might consider is his injury could be a part of that because him striking out is rare enough let alone twice. But I still have to root for the guy because he went to the same school that I used to go to. Good ol' Maple Woods Community College!
Leave it to the NL to complain about "Dirt" on a pitcher that shut your team out basically.
The National League is obviously Democrat cause only they would whine and bitch about outside things that caused their defeat other than how weak they really are.
No disrespect to democrats. My mother is democrat....IT's not that you're all bad. You're just.....
WRONG!

I'm not a democrat, nor a NL supporter and that was not dirt. It's not hard to shut a team out when you are cheating. That is why it's in the rulebook. I hate both teams so it's not about being upset they got shut out.

Detroit had all the markings in the regular season. But man did they stink in the series.
I'm glad I didn't jinx the Cards like I did the A's calling for a clean sweep and what not.
An interesting thing about this postseason is that in every matchup the underdog prevailed.

I'm curious, because I dont think anyone saw the Cardinals coming. I think they thought at least the Mets for sure out of the NL would go all the way.
Yea, late in the season I heard a lot of people/commentators saying it was going to be the Mets dominating the NL...and they did sort of...just didn't finish up on top...o well for them...
No one could have predicted how this whole postseason played out. And a lot of the "experts" weren't giving any credit to the Cards even when they won. It was always the Tigers just needed to do this and this to win, and then some of them tried to play off the pine tar crap like it was no big deal. Except for Woody and Skip. I think Kruk said something about it too. But it was just so freaking ridiculous that so many people like Ensberg and Dusty were trying to just sweep it under the rug. Sorry to keep going on about that but that crap just pisses me off. Makes me even more happy that Detroit lost.
