THE SHIELD has been one of my all-time favorite police and crime drama shows on TV. I love the Vic Mackey character played by Michael Chiklis. I have seen every episode from every season. It made me sad that they had to end the series last Fall.
Vic Mackey was a corrupt cop that had both a good and a bad side. He killed a fellow police officer in the very first episode. He stole from crooks. He manipulated people all the way down the line. He also loved his family and often justified his actions through them. In the final episode, Mackey gets what he deserves, but in a way that I did not expect. Instead of going to jail (Hell) or getting the awesome job with the Feds as a ICE agent (Heaven), he gets cast aside in a cubicle desk job reviewing reports from other agents (Purgatory). If he fails to do that job, then he violates his immunity agreement and goes to jail.
Also, his family gets put into protective custody so that Mackey will never see them again. He also has no friends left; most of them are dead or in jail. Walton Goggins plays the part of Shane Vendrell, Mackey's best friend throughout most of the series. Shane ends up murdering his own family and committing suicide because of Mackey.
All in all, an intense and gritty police and crime drama that really kept me watching every week just to see how good or how bad these characters would become as the show progressed.

SONS OF ANARCHY is a new show that aired last fall. It's about an outlaw biker gang called SAMCRO (Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club, Redwood Originals). The show takes a gritty and hard look at motorcycle gangs, and the story mirrors the real life events surrounding The Mongols and The Hells Angels motorcycle clubs. The show has a lot of good actors and the storyline so far has me interested.

IT'S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA has got to be the all-time funniest show that I have ever seen. This show just completely blows my mind every time that I watch it. It's Seinfeld times 100, LOL. It's totally whacked out and off the wall. The main character should be in jail, just like the way that Seinfeld and his "gang" ended up in that series. It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia deals with so many taboo and hardcore topics that it's almost impossible to list them all. You can watch some of the episodes on their official website. I highly recommend it.
LONG LIVE THE NIGHTMAN!
