Default FF Boxing Champions

Ok, one thing I've noticed is that members say they dont understand the Championship system in Boxing.
So I have drawn up a list of Main Champs in the main divisions along with dates of next defences for every one to follow if they are interested

HEAVYWEIGHT
CHAMP=Wladimir Klitchko
Defends against Lamon Brewster 7th June
Other notable bouts in this division are Shannon Briggs v Sultan Ibragimov

CRUISERWEIGHT
Jean-Marc Mormeck
Beat O'neil Bell for title by UD

LIGHT-HEAVYWEIGHT
Bernard Hopkins
Defends against Winky Wright 21st July

SUPER-MIDDLEWEIGHT
Joe Calzaghe
Defended against Peter Manfredo won by TKO April 4th
Lots of debate about who he'll fight next. Undefeated Dane Mikkell Kessler is a contender

MIDDLEWEIGHT
Jermain Taylor
Beat Cory Spinks by UD

JR MIDDLE
FLOYD MAYWEATHER
Beat De La Hoya By SD May 5th

WELTERWEIGHT
Floyd Mayweather
Beat Carlos Baldomir by UD Oct 06
Sugar Shane Mosely probable No 1 contender
See also Judah v Cotto 9th June

LIGHT-WELTER
Ricky Hatton
Defends against Jose Castillo (will be a cracker)

LIGHTWEIGHT
Joel Casamayer
Beat Diego Corrales By UD
No defence announced but a fight against No 1 contender Juan Diaz would be the fans choice

JR LIGHTWEIGHT
Manny Paciauo
Defends in October against an Unamed opponent,
No 1 contender Juan Manuel Marquez after his win over Marco Antonio Barrera

FEATHERWEIGHT
Chris John
Next Defence 7th August against Unknown
No 1 Contender is Rocky Juarez

I've stopped here because I know very little about the lower divisions

Hope this helps people follow boxing on the forum!! I will Update as things Develop!!

Bull can you make this a sticky??

Ummmm you know there's more than 1 champion in pretty much every rank. And i'd put Kessler ahead of Joe since he has 2 of the top titles where as Joe only has 1.

I would have to say that more people would rank Calzaghe as the top super middleweight. Don't get me wrong, I love Kessler and think he will beat Calzaghe IF they fight.

Check this out. Dan Rafael's rankings are the most accurate I believe. Looks like this is where Irish's list might have been influenced from.

How many weight devisions are there?!
What the hell is lower than featherweight? Heliumweight? lol

Also, arent there 4 or 5 organisations all with their own 'world champs'? Is there one that is more accepted and respected than the others?

God, I try and do a nice thing!! LOL

Yeah man, I know! I am trying to simplify it for people! It's too complicated in its current form and i think if people can focus on one champ like UFC it will make the thing easier to follow! Thus making easier for people on the board to know which fights to watch and be able to participate in discussions on it!

Calzaghe has beaten far better opposition than Kessler, and I'm trying to follow a lineage of title holders!

That list isnt useful at all to newcomers to the sport! What about fighters who have had to vacate due to boxings politics(IBF stripping Hatton and Calzaghe of their titles) There is no mention of them at all! Hatton isnt even listed in the J-Welterweight ranks when he is clearly the champ. Every major boxing publication and web-site says it!

I'm a compulsive googler for images, and I also have pages and pages of stuff saved on photobucket. I'm signed up on a forum where the image comedy is ruthless, so I pick up a lot of stuff there (much of it is inappropriate for FF).
