Valuev vs. Donald
October 1st, 2005 - Oldenburg, Germany.
Nikolay Valuev
about 6'11'', 330 lbs.
41 Wins, 31 KOs
Last three fights:
- Clifford Etienne: WKO3 Everybody should watch this fight, I found it highly amusing.
- Attila Levin: WTKO3 Good win for Valuev against the pretty tall Levin who - as it seemed to me - just could not take the power.
- Gerald Nobles: WDQ4 Nobles disqualified for low-blows. I did not have the impression Nobles did that on purpose - personally I thought it was just the height difference of about 12 inches.
Larry Donald
6'3'', 230 lbs.
42 Wins, 24 KOs, 3 Losses, 3 Draws
Last three fights:
- Ray Austin: Draw The same Ray Austin who got TKOed by Attila Levin - does this tell us something?
- Evander Holyfield: WUD I have seen this fight on the Ruiz-Golota, Byrd-McCline and Rahman-Meehan card. Age and the amount of taken punishment can be important factors when it comes to extreme sports and health.
- Mario Cawley: WTKO3 Cawley lost 13 of his last 14 bouts I believe.
Personally I believe Donald's movements can be an important factor in this match and maybe test Valuev's stamina. Larry might not have the power to hurt Valuev badly, but he might outbox him although this seems a little hard to imagine considering the height and reach advantage Valuev has.
The winner of this fight will be declared John Ruiz' mandatory challenger.
