Holyfield replaces Chagaev as Ibragimov's opponent
Holyfield replaces Chagaev as Ibragimov's opponent
The heavyweight division's first unification title fight since 1999? So much for that. But the October card in Moscow will go on -- thanks to Evander Holyfield.
WBA champion Ruslan Chagaev, who was scheduled to meet WBO titleholder Sultan Ibragimov on Oct. 13 in Moscow, withdrew from the fight Thursday because of an undisclosed stomach ailment, a source involved in the fight said...

That really sucks. It's good for Holyfield but I really wanted to see the belts unified. It could have been worse I guess...the entire card could have been postponed.

Right, hes done absolutely nothing and deserves to be fighting exhibition 4 round matches...
Who else deserves a shot more than he does and is ready to go and fight at that time to keep the fight card from being cancelled?

I hope Evander Holyfield comes in and thumps the crap outta him. Holyfield is way past prime, I know. And, while I didn't see his most recent fight I have seen him fight since his comeback. I think his injuries are a thing of the past...he looked great and Boxing needs a legend to keep it's head above the water. Holyfield is a legend.

Did I say he hasn't done anything? I don't think those words came out of my mouth. I said he doesn't deserve a title shot. If your gonna base this on prior accomplishments then next up for Klitchstko is Ali.
Rahman, Byrd and Brock for starters. All are much more deserving then a washed up, past his prime Holyfield.

Who do you think is more deserving? Just curious. I know the HW division is lacking some top competiton, but do you honestly believe Holyfield is next in line for a shot at ANY title?

I think he is just as deserving as many others out there. The fact that he is ready to fight on the date of the card is probably what got him the fight instead of others to begin with. Something I stated in an earlier post.

We will agree to disagree. I just feel bad for him at this point. You gotta let things go after a while. I just hope he doesn't get hurt. His speach is so slurred as it is.
