i dont mind sugar ray robinson being no. 1. at his peak he had a record of 131-2-1. i think henry armstrong is definitely too high at no. 3 and rocky marciano not being in the top 10 is ???

I think that Tommy Morrison needs to be in the top 50. Low, but still in there.

I think it is accurate, it doesnt say best fighters, it says best boxer. A link under neath it says best punchers. You know how announcers say this is a match of boxers vs puncher.

You have got to be joking !!
Also, no Arron Prior. They put Alexis on there and Prior ate his lunch two times !! That is not right. Plus Michel Spinks was the best LHW of all time, and where is Foster ! ? That list is a little off !

Well, with Tyson, it's not just about HW's, but still he should probably be in the 35-40 range. The one that I have a problem with is Roberto Duran being sixth and Sugar Ray Leonard being 12. Last time I checked, Ray lost to Roberto first, then came back and beat him so bad that Duran quit mid-fight. Not to mention the fact that Ray Leonard captured belts in several weight-classes.

Just looking at the 1 and 2 I can tell it's a bad list.

If the "Mainstream Appeal" factor were taken away, would Tyson be at 50?

Probably not, but he wouldn't be above 35 IMO. Tyson had great skill and tools but that's only half of the package. You gotta have the mental discipline (when your under fire) and toughness to be one of the elite greats.

I have no Problem with Ray Robinson at #1. This guy would knock people out with left hooks while moving backwards. He would fight 3 or 4 times in a six month period. He was the complete package, power, speed, grace and brutality. If you are a true boxing fan you owe it to yourself to watch his fights. Get on line and find old film or vhs or dvds, what ever it takes. There was never any one like him !
What I don't get is not putting fighters on this list that dominated their division, and I mean dominated. Michael Spikks and Greg Foster, both ruled the LHW for yesrs one after the other. If division domination does not matter , than what ? Spinks and Foster should be on there, Prior too.

I'd hardly consider Spinks an all time top 50...especially since he was the victim of probably the most violent ass whooping ever in boxing...by another top 50 guy.

Evander Holyfield would definitely argue this.

I believe Duran was 72-1 when he fought Leonard the second time. The list isn’t based on who beat who, but their overall career. Duran was possibly the best lightweight of all time.

Prince Naseem Hamed in the top 50? I hope you're talking punchers because he's definitely not top 50 of all time. Not even close.

I completely agree. He was something special.
Also, Hagler should be higher on the list. Mayweather would be higher on the list as of 2008. Tyson 1985-1989 was amazing, but I wonder if 1995-2006 removes him from this list especially all-time, but man was he fun to watch.

That's just it...Leonard was better than Duran. Leonard did it in several weight classes and embarassed Duran the second time they fought...so badly that he quit. I realize it's not a who beat who list, but c'mon when you beat all of the greats, in your weight class while you're in your prime, it speaks very loudly. I think Duran is probably a top 10-15 all time, but not deserving better ranking than Sugar Ray Leonard.
