You may only give one prediction! You have to name the winner correctly!
For instance: - John Ruiz wins by TKO at 2:35 in round number 5. You only win, if you predicted "Ruiz 15" (25,000 points).
If you have any questions, suggestions, or find a mistake, feel free to let me know. Thanks.
The whole thing closes in exactly seven days. I do not accept any prediction, which was made seven days and one minute after this first post of the thread was submitted.

Ruiz - Split decision
What would a DQ be considered? I despise Ruiz's style and can see him getting screwed by a German ref when he fouls Valuev

How could I forget about a DQ? Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
I am editing the first post of the thread now. If you wish to change your prediction, you may do so. If you do not reply, I take "Ruiz SD". Thanks again!

Thanks for the clarification Bull.
I'll change mine and go Valuev winner by disqualification. If Ruiz goes rough and tumble and the Berlin crowd gets into it, it could influence the ref to make that call. I've never seen Valuev as he's only fought in Europe. He has had people DQ'd against him. And Ruiz is prone to the dirty boxing style.
Probably not hard to hit Valuev low either. He's 7'0"!?! 42-0 with 31 KOs. Not saying the guy is any good as I've not seen him, but I really hate Ruiz's style and feel he is easily the worst of the HWT champs out there, certainly well behind Rahman and Brewster.

Nobles for instance was disqualified for low-blows. I do not think he hit Valuev low intentionally - it was just the 12 inch height difference I am sure (I have seen the fight three times).
Thanks for participating in the thread.

That's what I'm thinking. Ruiz is listed at 6'2", but I think that is generous. So he'll likely be giving up a foot in height as well.
Since you are in Germany and have seen Valuev, can you give us your evaluation of him? Does he simply use his immense height and reach or is he actually talented? This could be an intriguing fight, so I'll have to make sure to check it out.

Well, Valuev has decent power, but lacks motivation as it seems to me and does not use hs height effectively enough. I have seen about 6 fights of Valuev, and I do not think he is as good as many people tend to think.
Clifford Etienne was in there trying for the knockout hard, and he managed to hit Valuev quite well. Unfortunately Etienne does not have the best chin (he was floored by Francois Botha before as well as by Terrence Lewis, Mike Tyson, Fres Oquendo and Calvin Brock I think). The fight was ended by a punch to the back of the head of Etienne. Richard Bango was throwing hard and wild shots at him, too. But Larry Donald on the other hand used his speed to out-box Valuev, make him miss but fight back often. He deserved the decision I am convinced.
While guys like Hasim Rahman or Samuel Peter can fight Valuev and beat him in my opinion, people without a good punch should try to box alot because Valuev is really big with his 7' and about 330lbs. I personally expect the other three champs can beat Valuev (Byrd by UD, Rahman by early knockout if focussed, Brewster by mid-round or late stoppage), and I really hope John Ruiz gets the job done next month in Germany.
Feel free to ask, if you wish to get more information.

Thanks for the info Bull. I really had little knowledge of who Valuev was until now, other than knowing his name. Bsides the foot height advantage, he'll have 100+lb weight advantage. Interesting.
I think Ruiz may be the worst HWT champion we have had in a long time. The trilogy of fights against an aging Holyfield were tough to watch with all the elbows, forearms, late hits, holding, etc, from both guys. He got beat easily by Roy Jones and Toney basically showed him to be average at best. Kirk Johnson was beating him until he got DQ'd. Golota is basically washed up. The only good win would be against Rahman, who was in the midst of 4 straight fights without a win. I guess it really comes down to I hate watching him fight because he turns the fights very ugly with the constant holding and clinch boxing. Anyone who can simply box smart can easily defeat him IMO, ie. Jones and Toney.

Ruiz, UD.
I always put Ruiz at the bottem of the list when ranking the HW champs but I think he can win this one.

No the videos don't work for me. My windows media player is very picky about videos on line. But form what I know about Valuev he is a good boxer with good power but his biggest advantage is his size. I think that Ruiz will be able to beat him.

I just watched the clips from the Donald and Ettiene fights and Bull was correct in both cases. Donald appeared to completely outbox him. Yet Valuev got the majority decision in his seemingly adopted homeland of Germany. That's another factor that will be working against Ruiz. And Ruiz will attack in a similar manner as Ettiene IMO as he does not have the boxing skills at all of Larry Donald. This may really be an interesting fight.

I think Ruiz is going to beat up Valuev badly.
Do you guys remember the Ruiz-Golota fight as Norman Stone was insulting Randy Newman and had to leave the arena? Then John busted up Golota.
I hope something like that happens again in December. That was a good show.
