Thanks for the post BB. I think the fashion in which he lost is even more disheartening. He's definitely the better fighter of the 2 but like Kellerman said, he was fighting a tough kid that refused to lose and kinda gave in. What a slugfest though!

FOTY for sure.. talk about the comeback kid. It was hard to watch as an Ortiz fan but Maidana did everything he needed to do and then some. I was SHOCKED by this match.

I know what you mean Aika, some of the instinctive shots BOTH men were throwing were shocking in their visiousness. Like ive been watching boxing a long time and i dont think ive ever seen as many shots thrown like that when a guys in trouble. Reminded me how dangerous professional boxers are.

Like i said, i was really disappointed with Ortiz. More so, for the way he lost. I dunno, hes a 22 year old kid, he can come back. I just think maybe he got infatuated by his success and expected people to lie down for him. His comment "I dont deserve to be beat up like this" was strange.
I really really hope he gets his s**t together and comes back. He is a tremendous exciting fighter with a huge fan base, and even without a world championship, is a huge draw. WAR ORTIZ

I think I got into the hype of Ortiz and saw this fight as one more step towards a title and glory.. was not expecting it to turn out the way it did for sure.

Thats whats good about this new fight night series that HBO have started. People will want to see Ortiz again im sure. His career is not stalled at all. In fact if he comes back stronger than ever, this loss will help him. Unlike Hatton, whom U.S audiences have gotten tired of. He underperformed badly in his 2 hugely hyped PPV appearances. That P.O's people.

Boxing After Dark is not that new, itīs been around for 15 years. I had this fight sitting on my desktop for the past week and didnīt watch it until today. These are the fights that will make people appreciate boxing again, but I share the disappointment in Ortiz with the others. He should have went out like a warrior, not that he didnīt fight like one for six rounds, but giving up is just hard to look at.

I mean, in association with Golden Boy, hopefully it will give the series a shot in the arm. This show was great in general, good matchups, hopefully that will continue
