The Official FightForum "Back your Boxer" League
Every participant may choose three boxers. The better your boxers perform, the more points you get.
(T)KO in Round 01 - 15 Points
(T)KO in Round 02 - 14 Points
(T)KO in Round 03 - 13 Points
(T)KO in Round 04 - 12 Points
(T)KO in Round 05 - 11 Points
(T)KO in Round 06 - 10 Points
(T)KO in Round 07 - 09 Points
(T)KO in Round 08 - 08 Points
(T)KO in Round 09 - 07 Points
(T)KO in Round 10 - 06 Points
(T)KO in Round 11 - 05 Points
(T)KO in Round 12 - 04 Points
Decisions
For instance:
118:110 - 8 Points
117:111 - 6 Points
116:112 - 4 Points
115:113 - 2 Points
When the referee scores the fight, we take his score card. When three judges score the fight, we take the scorecard in the middle (we ignore the best one and the worst one).
When your fighter wins twelve rounds and scores three knockdowns, this equals a first round knockout (120:105 -> 15 Points).
Technical decisions are scored like usual decisions, a disqualification is scored like a knockout.
For a Draw there are 0 Points.
If your boxer loses, we take the amount of points away - if your boxer gets KOed in the first round, you lose 15 points.
Hope there is no confusion with the points: these points got nothing to do with the virtual points you get for posting etc.
this is a game, have fun!
Any idea how we can reward the champion (the member who got the most points)? Any comment, question, ... please in this thread or via PM to me.
Hope you like this idea and will enjoy the game. If you wish to participate, just drop a message in here saying which boxers you choose (it has to be three).
I was trying to set the rules as fair as possible (towards excellent boxers, knockout artists, journeymen, etc.).
The three boxers I choose are: Lamon Brewster, Arthur Abraham and Joe Mesi.

What's the timetable of this league? Is it for the entire year of 2006? Or is it just for fights in the next couple months?
It sounds like a neat deal, but I just wanted to get everything straight first.

I don't know, make a suggestion. We can do this forever - if one of your boxers retires, you can choose another one. LOL Seriously, please make a suggestion.

Jermain Taylor, Arturo Gatti, Marco Antonio Barrerra
I'll go with those three.
We do need to get some kind of system though. That way, it will be fair. We need to give each of our fighters a fight or two total. It's kinda tricky since the fights are all spread out, but I'll try to think of something.

Probably it is due to my language concept. But I have no clue what you are talking about. Can you please be so kind and explain to me what you are saying?

Sound's like a good idea I'll go for 3 British Boxers Amir Khan, Ricky 'the hitman' Hatton and Enzo Maccranelli then.

You can get high scores with decisions, depending on how one-sided they are.

Are we allowed to repeat boxers that other people selected?
If so I'll take Miguel Angel Cotto, Floyd Mayweather Jr, and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
If not I'll take Samuel Peter, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, and Juan Manuel Marquez.

You may choose boxers that are already selected by others as long as you do not copy a member's entire selection (choose the three he has).
I agree we should do it forever, so - basically - do it as long as people show interest in it. When one of your boxers retires (or is inactive for twelve months or more), you may choose a new one, replace him. If you are just unhappy with what he does, that's all your problem.
If you find a mistake, have another suggestion, anything, let me know.
gumbel, what Cotto do you mean? - Jose Miguel or Miguel Angel? Guess the second one. If not, let me know please.

Bull, I believe Marco Antonio Barrera is fighting Jesus Chaves on March 25th for the IBF Lightweight Championship. It's listed on ESPN.COM in the rankings section, so I don't know if that means anything or not. I think it's been finalized though.
As for the scoring, I agree with everyone else. We can just keep the scores going forever.

Postponed, buddy. Chavez needs surgery first, if I am informed correctly.
