Tyson vs McBride thoughts?
Any thoughts on the Mike Tyson vs Kevin McBride fight due to take place June 11th in Washington, DC?
Mike Tyson, soon to be 39 years old, (50-5; 44 KO's) hasn't fought since his 4th round loss to Danny Williams via knockout which was almost a year ago. He is also coming off surgery on the left knee injury he sustained in that match.
Kevin McBride (32-4-1; 27 KO's) willl clearly have the height and reach advantage as he stands 6'6" in comparison with Tyson who is 5'11". McBride is also the younger fighter at 31 years old.
Does Mike have a shot or is it time to hang it up? I'm sure you can count on an exciting and eventful fight to say the least.

I think Tyson needs to whoop this guy if he wants his Boxing career to continue.

Most definitely. If Mike Tyson lost this fight, he would probably never get a big fight again, although "Tyson" is still the biggest name in boxing.

Prediction: Tyson goes down for the count in the 3rd round.
Did you see that picture up there? Tyson is going to get worked hard.

tyson to win
tyson is going to win this one and he is going to fight two more times this year, i think he is doing good this time around he is traning better then he ever has and his mind is on the fight, mcbride has a problem leaning in on fighters and will put him in range for tysons uper cut, mcbride is where he is because he is 6'6" and he leans on fighters and wears them out but i dont think he can handle tyson, he is not in shape and does not have to many skills
i watched his last fight at foxwoods and he did not use his reach at all he stayed very close on the inside with his head down, if he fights that way with tyson he will go down fast.
this win will help get people to look at tyson and want to watch him fight agian. tyson is still a contender and i think if he can keep his head in the game he will make a come back this year.

Im sure mcbride is taking it seriously. im just saying i seen him fight and i dont think he has the skills to win, and i have been keeping up with tyson and he looks good. im not a big tyson fan, but reading some of the interviews with him he is very much on top of his game and his home life is alot better
so i think his head is on the fight unlike last year where he was pushed to fighting for the tax agreement. I know poeple want to see mcbride an irish fighter win, im irish, but i believe he does not have a chance, sorry

if im rong, bye bye tyson. but i think it will be a good year or two for the HW watchers out there that miss tysons fights.
rite now there is not many good fast and strong fighters out in HW
they all are tall goofy looking or short fat and slow,
rather watch middle wieghts or lights, well brewster and byrd are some what good but they both dont have that spark

Tyson is washed up
First of all as a female u probably will not take me seriously, but i have been around the fight game for a while now and here are my comments on the fight. I know most people expect to see the Tyson from twenty years ago. He use to be such a young, strong, amazing athlete. I believe that if McBride fights on the outside and utilizes his reach he will win this fight. I dont think he has the power to KO tyson but tyson does lead in with his head alot especially when he is winded. If Mcbride fights a smart fight he will use that uppercut to bring Tyson off his feet and onto the canvas. Tyson most certainally will be throwing an abundance of powerful body shots but if McBride fights on the outside i believe he will prevail.

First of all as a female u probably will enjoy it that I send you online a little kiss on the cheek.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts, and Welcome to FightForum. I expect everybody to take you seriously - otherwise it would be quite disappointing.
Kevin McBride's size advantage is really huge. The question is: can he use it to his full advantage against a Tyson who - as it seems to me - is ready to go? I do not think the outcome of this fight is dependent on Kevin, but more on Mike - his entire focus.
I do not expect to see the Tyson from the late 80s. But on the other hand a lot of people seem to forget that he is still the same man. I personally am convinced he is still good enough to beat every other boxer out there nowadays. He will be champ again.

i think so too, sure any one with that much hieght can be a problem but mcbride did not use it on his last fight with a guy that has around the same size and fight style as tyson, with out the punch. and mcbride is slow, very slow. tyson still has that speed if you seen his last fight, but in the world of heavy wieghts you never know

Maybe a hard hit from Tyson will give him the motivation he needs to actually get off his butt and work. Who knows??

This would make a better fight. Is always great to see both fighters willing to win and work hard for the success.
I surely hope McBride will not try to use his height to his advantage by leaning on Tyson all night amd clinching like Frank Bruno did it in their rematch. To be honest, I think this might be his only chance to survive a couple of rounds: he might be countered badly, if he is trying to fight from the outside (Tyson's head movement and entire moves are still pretty good for a man at almost 39); and if he was even willing to trade with Tyson ...
 Just my thoughts.
Two weeks to go!

I really don't expect to see vintage Mike Tyson anymore, but at his age I'd like to think he would try to be more of a boxer. He is at a severe disadvanted when it comes to reach in this fight and it seems he is easily frustrated by opponents landing jabs from the outside. I'm sure his gameplan will be to work inside as much as possible.
If McBride comes out with a quick / powerful jab and lands it a couple times, he has a good chance of winning, but I really don't see this happening. I'm sure Tyson has been working on closing the gap to smother McBride inside. Tyson may be way past his prime, but he definitely still has knockout power -- it only takes 1 inside uppercut and lights out!

Tyson vs McBride
If Tyson does win the fight, which is a possibility, is there really any good contenders that will take him seriously?

Excellent photo of Tyson Bull. If his mind was as strong as his body he would be unstoppable!
