You're right. Head to Head, he's better than Buster Douglas, Evander Holyfield, Lennox Lewis...
Oh, wait.

YEAH WAIT. Tyson in his prime would have whooped Lennox Lewis's ass in less than 10 rounds. And had Tyson been focused, he would have annihilated Douglas in less than 3 rounds. Holyfield is the only one who stood a good chance of beating a prime Tyson. Head to head, when speaking of Tyson, all that it would take is one punch and the fight is over. Mike had the ability to knock people out left and right, regardless of where the fight took place, in the street or whatever.

Hey sitnspin, be real.
Are you also saying Berbick was better than Ali just because he beat him late in his career?
Watch all of his fights, then you can spot the differences.

I think the real question to ask in this boxing vs MMA.....is how long can the sport of boxing really last against MMA...once the UFC became what it is today with a good set of rules the keep the action going and fighters that have become the perfect hybrid of strikers, wrestlers, and submission fighters...I knew that the sport of boxing was going to die. we can in no way compare what the world of boxing is right now to what the UFC & PRIDE are so how long will boxing last....

boxing is not dying because of a lack of interest in the sport. its the fighting that takes place within the sport of boxing itself that is killing it. too many greedy promoters only looking to make money instead of giving fans the best fights possible. too many weight classes in too many organizations. bad PPV events that cost too much money. boxing and MMA can easily exist together. i don't see why you could'nt even have boxing and MMA on the same card. anything is possible but boxing is corrupt to the bone and no one wants to do what is best for the sports survival, they want to dollars today and they don't give a damn about the future. i love boxing, i just hate most of the people who promote it.

I don't think that is the real question because boxing will go nowhere. It's not going to be "overtaken" by MMA no matter what. There are always going to be boxing fans because it has been around for centuries. Right now MMA is a fad, it's the "cool" thing to watch UFC nowadays. We'll have to see how long the popularity lasts then make the comparison.

I agree that boxing won't be "overtaken" by MMA anytime soon...I think MMA is a lot more exciting than boxing and now that the UFC is gaining in popularity, more and more people are able to see how exciting the UFC actually is...I don't think MMA a "fad" because "fads" tend to appear, disapper and the reappear again...I think MMA is here to stay.

You may be right. I'm still in the wait and see mode. Only because people today will be so into something one day then all of a sudden they won't care anymore. I can gurantee you that there are a lot of people who watch the UFC who aren't MMA fans, and that's fine because it is a popular thing right now. We'll just have to see if that group of people sticks around.

Very true...I've had the same thoughts lately. MMA as a sport needs to keep exciting and make some smart management choices. ESPN getting behind the sport would help to validate it some.
