Ricky Hatton vs ..........
Ricky Hatton is great.... but why is it that floyd Mayweather keeps jumping in and out of weight class to avoid a fight with him?

Don't you think De La Hoya is a bigger fight than Hatton?

I disagree, but it's a very subjective matter. Hoya definitely brings more money. Who's the better fighter? That's debatable.

Floyd Jr, is taking this fight because of the popularity of DLH and of course his pay check in this fight. If he beats DLH, which I don't think he will, then Floyd Jr., will make a BIG name for himself in the boxing world.

They are talking close to 2 million PPV buys for the DLH/floyd fight. I doubt a fight with Hatton would even come within half of that. It is a bigger fight money wise. Hopefully, if Floyd wins and Hatton beats Castillo, we can see a fight at the end of the year.

I agree. The reason he's not fighting him is money.

I'm a huge Hatton fan! He's probably my favourite fighter active today. But I gotta agree with bull and co. DLH is the biggest fight for PBF right now, in terms of money and regognition. Hatton's last fight was in a relatively small ballroom in the Paris hotel. He just isn't a huge draw in the states yet, he will be, but not yet

come on now everybody even ricky hatton himself knows flody mayweather will beat the brakes off him.the only way i see it being a close fight if flody breaks his hands, but otherwise imagine ground beef thats how ricky is going to look after that fight if it happens.another thing i dont think flody will want to fight if it's not in the good old USA SO HE CAN GET ROBBED WITHOUT A GUN.

Ok money is all America thinks about sure. but in good old england they love this kid... and last time i checked the population over there was around 60,609,153....... he is like a God at home.... so im thinking out of all those millions im thinkin he is getting a pretty big fan base.... and beside alot of fans have gone over to MMA... they could care less about the DLH PBF fight anyways.
Now im talking about who would win and what round? Its true Hatton looked liked **** against Luis Collazo... and I almost scored the fight Collazo...... but I really think the DLH PBF fight is an awsome fight..... Im excited about this fight.
I dont care what it takes...I wanna see Hatton Floyd 2007!!!!

And to think that many english fans don't like Mayweather and the way he fights, and his ideology going into fights etc.
Am I the only one who can see him wince everytime his opponent even attempts to throw a punch, thats not a sign of a great champion to me

I totally agree with IrishMike, I wouldn't read too much into Ricky Hatton's last fights an how good he looked... I've followed every Hatton fight and he does seem to go through periods of having scrappy fights, remember he got dropped by the likes of Eamon Magee for example. But he always seems to raise his game for the big stages, if Hatton ever meets Mayweather I can seriously see the fight going to Hatton by decision. Mayweather is a top boxer but I can see Hatton walking through him, roughing him up and Mayweather taking abit of a pasting!
But I also agree that due to the money situation this fight won't happen at the moment.

And we also have to take into account that the last few fights for Hatton have been against South-Pore fighters or however u spell it, and these type of fighters give Hatton a lot of problems, so he has done well to beat them, even if he didn't put on the best performance he could of done.

Mayweather is Roy Jones of the 2000's. He is too fast and has enough power to stop people. Once he slows down he will get caught like Roy did and we will say hey wait a second amybe he wasn't that great. He has fought more guys than Roy did in his day but they are the same, he will get caught and once he does people will show him no respect and rush him like Johnson did Jones. Hatton will look like Gatti or Corallas or any other good fighter who faces him Mayweaher. Maywaether will hit Oscar and get hit a lot less, only stand and trade when Oscar is covering up, and run the last couple of rounds when Oscar is looking for the knockout. Hatton would fair much much worse. A big discrepancy in power is something that can be overcome. A big discrepancy in speed (hands, feet and head) cannot, especially if he has power too with maywaether does.

Margarito is the one PBF has been dodgeing and for good reason; I believe this is the guy that would create match-up problems for him w/ his size and power. The kicker is that he is also a great boxer; even though maybe not as good a boxer as PBF the other advantages would more than make up for that.

Hatton cannot beat Mayweather! I hate Mayweather, but you got to be true to the sport of Boxing. Hatton had a difficult time with Collazo at 147 pounds, causing him to go back down to 140 pounds. Hatton's first defeat is coming on June 23rd by the hands of Castillo.
Margarito is a great fighter, but also has a tough fight against Paul Williams in July. Possibly the winner of that fight will meet with the winner of Cotto-Judah fight.

The casual fan would not think that Hatton was good at all if they only saw his two fights in the U.S. I like him alot, but he has not looked spectacular at all.
