NFL Draft 2018 Cardinals Josh Rosen can

If the NFL Draft was based on talent alone, Josh Rosen might have been the No. 1 Anthony Miller Jersey pick. Instead the former UCLA quarterback was taken atNo. 10 byArizona, wherehe will battle for the starting job with Sam Bradford, an actual former No. 1 pick.SIGN UP to stream the NFL Draft LIVE on DAZN in Canada Not that Rosen cares one iota where he was picked. Asked by NFL Network before the draftif he thought he would go No. 1, he responded,"I don't care." Rosen said,"I'm not paying attention to all that stuff very much. I've always been the No. 2 guy."josh rosen snapped on em pic.twitter.com/NVqYk6b7M2 Jordan Heck (@JordanHeckFF) April 24, 2018 Stop right there. Rosen wasn't the No. 2 guy. He was the No. 4 quarterback taken in this draft, behind Baker Mayfield (No. 1, Cleveland), Sam Darnold (No. 3, New York Jets) and Josh Allen (No. 7, Buffalo). Why didn't that happen? Look no further than the second part of Rosen's quote to NFL Network."Coming out of high school, Ricky Town was the dude,"Rosen continued. "He was going to Game Brian Urlacher Navy Jersey SC, I was going to UCLA, and he was No. 1 in the country and I was No. 2. He was going to [take]USC back to the promised land. Blake Barnett, after Ricky kind of faded away a little bit, Blake Barnett was the Elite 11 MVP. He was the dude who was going to go to Bama and win a couple championships and call it quits and go to the league. ... You don't really hear about him too much."That's a fair response. Rosen did have a better college career than Town and Barnett, who announced his intention this week to transfer for the second time. Nobodyin the NFL cares about Town, Barnett or old recruiting scores. They do care about attitude, and Rosen's was di sected to the point before the draft that you can't help but believe thatwasn't at least a part of the reason those three other quarterbacks were Willie Young Jersey taken ahead of him.But back to that interview for a second, in which Rosen went on to say:"Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield, these dudes that are these exotic, cool flashy quarterbacks. That No. 1 pick, and all this stuff, and I'm No. 2. So I'm just going to sit here and in a couple years when all is said and done I'm confident that I'll still be standing."Rosen might indeed be more talented than Mayfield or Darnold, but he wasn't a better college quarterback. Mayfield was a three-time Heisman finalist who made the College Football Playoff twice. Darnold beat UCLA the last two seasons, including a head-to-head matchup with Rosen in 2017.You know what is exotic, cool and flashy in the NFL? Winning. That's what Rosen needs to do now. He needs to win for the Cardinals, and if he does that nobody will care what he says or how he says it.Rosen had the better stats, but Darnold won the game. This is all part of that generational polarization ofsports debates. Rosen might look good, Mens D*** Butkus Player Jersey but the record tells a different narrative.MORE: How did a Central Ohio suburb with a population of 20,000 produce six active NFL players? UCLA was 18-19 the last three seasons with Rosen on campus. Jim Mora, injuries and other factors contributed to that record, too. Mora didn't exactly have a glowing endorsement for Rosen throughout the draft proce s, either, which certainly seems like another layer to the dysfunction with that dynamic. Here's a fair criticism: Rosen arrived at UCLAwith a highly touted recruiting cla safter back-to-back 10-win seasons by the Bruins with Brett Hundley. Rosen did not elevate Men's Mitchell Trubisky Game Jersey the program. When you go down the list of NFL starting quarterbacks, most of them elevated their college football program. Drew Brees led Purdue to the Rose Bowl. Dak Prescott led Mi si sippi State to the No. 1 ranking in the AP Poll. Cal was 18-8 in two seasons with Aaron Rodgers.Rosen will need to elevate the Cardinals in a transition period with first-year coach Steve Wilks. He can change perception and reality in the NFL, and Arizona is a good place to do that.If Rosen really is No. 1 material, he'll have a chance to prove it.
