Any word on muffins?
What is going on in the world of pasteries today.. Could the dreaded banana nut bread be planning an assault apon the breakfast tables of unsuspecting americans? Perhaps the blessed poppy seed fairy will sprinkle her false positive inducing goodness on our baked goods.

All I know is that the cute girls who work in the coffee place I go to every morning on campus make some WEIRD muffins. Blueberry, coconut, pineapple & chocolate chip, with candy sprinkles on top.

I may not have a perfect diet, but fritters, like apple, are the bottom of the barrel for me. If I allow myself an apple fritter, then I know my diet has really gone to hell.

I woke up to the fresh smell of blueberry muffins yesterday and I must admit, I thought I had died and gone to pastry heaven.

What's a fritter?
Btw muffins are yummy, but my first choice in pastries are these cute little things.

Fritters are like huge donuts of irregular shape. They're crispy on the outside, and just white and doughy on the inside. Nothing but white flour and white sugar and fat, fried up, plus whatever other fruit is added to the mix. Apple is a popular one.
And a close-up to show the texture and glaze on a fritter:

Fritters look like vomit but taste great. In the south they are so common that if you quit eating them its like hypoglycemic shock. the body misses the sugar so bad.. mmmm
